Already see this getting misattributed as "enlisting by the end of the year." That's not what this says.

the most simped out comment of 2023:
"Wow CEO nim congrats, let's walk on the flower path."
imagine typing that

I think the number one is really important to secure in this case so I'd rather them release his album a week in which that is guaranteed, potentially even for a second week. I can see him doing 250-300k, if they're smart and provide plenty of physical options. No real rush to get this out but a lot of pressure to get it right.

There's also Geese and Goose, both indie bands with buzz rn lol

What is true? What's actually happening?
No one on this forum knows but I wouldn't trust YG's "we can't confirm anything" commentary as anything but a typical K-Pop PR non-answer to buy time. It's far from a reassuring or satisfying response, and given there's a lot of pressure on them right now to GIVE a satisfying and clear response, the fact they cannot is a sign of a company in distress.

The idea of JYP doing a Western-geared group was always a stretch. They literally prove their inability to connect to a general Western audience with almost every marketing move they make, even though they have 2 huge artists on their hands with a lot of fans in the West. It feels like ego and pride gets in the way for a lot of labels instead of admitting they need outside help.

I have no idea what Deuxmoi is but what do they say?
a popular Western gossip account -- and nothing new! just means it's reaching general celeb gossip circuit

Question: Has anybody ever heard a K-pop song being played in a non K-pop club in the west that isn't either Psy or BP? Oh, you haven't?
K. Keep thinking streaming numbers and charts are an accurate reflection of the real world.
And that's all I'll say. BTS are incredibly successful and influential but that doesn't mean you have to act like your Uber driver knows who tf Jungkook is. 💀
Rosé is my fave and literally nobody in the GP outside of Asia knows who she is. It's okay. Calm down.
My sides. I literally hear BTS in stores, restaurants, clubs all the time. I hear Seven all the time now. I hear Dynamite, MU, Butter even Boy With Luv in broadly GP settings as often as many recurrents. As someone else noted, the numbers speak for themselves. Until very recently, no other groups besides BTS have produced a song that Westerners actually know because none of them stick around long enough or reach the audience necessary to get that radio and streaming exposure. Never have experienced any other established K-Pop group's songs outside a K-Pop setting and no one is playing Psy in 2023. I have heard NewJeans a few times but wouldn't say they have a GP hit yet. Cupid, of course, is a genuine smash. As I said, these are very recent developments.
Nice theoretical take on what the Western GP plays/is exposed to though lmao. The song you listed as an example lasted 3 or 4 weeks on the chart. I promise you the GP doesn't know it.
I know this is in response to an older reply but as someone who closely monitors charts and songs' real-world relevance, I couldn't let it slide LOL. It's giving "as someone who lives on another continent, let me tell you what Americans are listening to."

Deuxmoi is reporting on it now as a poorly disguised blind item.

They should be able to compete against Ed Sheeran/Coldplay level numbers in 2025/2026, depending on how long tour runs. There's really no limit on how big this could get but also respect how much the guys have to balance and how grueling their choreography is. Boys, if you need to sit down for a few songs, we're okay with that! lol

So what’s the verdict?
Nothing yet! Clearly whatever is going on, they are not yet ready to announce.
It's giving me flashbacks to last spring/summer with HYBE and how it felt like they were hiding something. No reason to delay announcing uncomplicated, 'happy' news. Lots of reasons to delay otherwise.

Any locals who might fall for SKZ need to be willing to go on the ride with them. It's not SKZ's job to water down their sound to cater to people who might listen for a song or two. JYP is the only thing holding SKZ back from reaching even more people in the West. Maniac was VERY accessible and definitely brought on board lots of new listeners.

JYP can thank Suzy for showing him the light, but the others agencies will soon be on one accord, as idols are becoming too powerful.

Not just in Kpop, employers globally are starting to wake up to the necessity for employees to be reminded who's the boss and pain in the form of unemployment needs to be inflicted so that there's "less arrogance in the employment market":

I'm prepared to believe at this point. The thing last weekend got pushed away but at this point, where there's smoke there's fire. I suppose all will be revealed in a few days!

the way I see it, the three most likely groups all got something last night so everyone should be relatively content lol
