Why do they have to win?
-
-
Can they? Yes anything is possible
Will they? Doesn't look good. Since fancy their digital charting has tanked hard so now they can't rely own their name or rep, they have to have a really well liked song and that is much harder
-
Like others have said international they already have but domestically I highly doubt it. SNSD aren't just a mega successful music group, they were part of Korean culture. You heard their music of course but even if you ignore that you constantly saw then on TV, you always saw their faces when going out shopping for anything from make up to high end tech, they regularly made it on national news for just a CB announcement, they were used by gov as representatives for Korea for tourism and hallyu and so on. They were pretty much a mini entertainment industry by themselves.
Even now when SNSD has been inactive for years members are still in high regard. Taeyeon in charts, Sunny and Hyoyeon on TV, the actress line, hosting awards shows and events and so on.

I thought you liked trying to get drama going on to give you hit threads drew
Anyway I made my point in my first post and left it unchanged. It's not my fault users are quoting me asking the same thing over again or putting words in my mouth.
You can lock this thread if you want, at least that way I won't have to deal with their idiotic shit lol

Oh don't even try it
You were the one making comparisons and saying one was worse than the others. You were the one minimizing Tiffany's involvement and overextended Sowon's. Not me.
Tiffany saw that sticker, chose it, posted it. Sowon saw that that statue, posed with it and posted it. Simple as that. There were mannequins dressed like that all throughout the venue and and filming crew everywhere. It's not like it was a long or difficult process or Sowon singled out that specific one out of a set of normal ones. It doesn't matter how many steps you try to drag out to make it worse or more "complex", the problem is ignorance
Dude I've already said multiple times in this thread I think Sowon's actions, IE how everything came to be, is worse and have explained why. I'm not denying that. You can agree with my reason or not I don't mind that at all.
What I do mind however is you stirring up shit and putting words in my mouth (seems to be a thing in this thread). I did not say Tiffany end results, IE her pics, were worse or better than Sowon. I never said Tiffany was innocent. If that's what you think or Sowon is innocent then like I said you do you, but don't drag me into something I never said.

Taeyeon. Her technique, her tone, her versatility, her emotion etc all combined into a single package beats all
-
Snapchats geofilter still gives you the option to choose from a selected option of stickers
Tiffany still chose that sticker out of all the ones generated because she thought it looked pretty and she didn't know better. She made a mistake.
Sowon took that picture because she thought it was just a cool soldier. It wasn't well decorated, labeled and it didn't have the typical nazi armband or emblems that most people would recognize. She didn't know better and she made a mistake, the same one nobody on her team caught.
It's amazing how you paint Tiffany as a victim but try to stretch out Sowon's responsibility when it both boils down to pure ignorance
I'm more amazed how you pit both against each assumming I'm calling one of them victim when I'm only stating the complexity of processes of how each other got in their situations. Tiffany took a pic with a filter and uploaded it meanwhile Sowon thought about taking a pic with this specific mannequin, posed, had someone else take the pic and then upload it. There's more specific actions required from Sowon to get into that mess than Tiffany.
If you wanna judge who's guilty then you do you.

no you are missing the point lmao. while tiffany grew up in america she moved to korea at the age of 15 and went to school in korea. That means she learned about korea in a korean high school. Tiffany is korean and went to a korean high school the gp was upset that she didnt know what would be considered basic korean history which is why she got such outrage. Also death threats isnt ok under any circumstance. That situation is no where near the same as sowon posing with the mannequin because even under western standards majority of us would not recognize that as a German ww2 attire. I even gave you a better example you could use in the usher situation but as i said the reaction if far more tame so i guess it doesent fit your false narrative smh.
Jesus you're full of yourself. I've tried explaining but you keep coming up wwith your own ways of defending knetz. You say Tiffany should know Korean history because she lived in Korea for half her life but now you suddenly say people in the west many of whom are taught ww2 in school and now with recent the rise of fascism particularly Nazism in places like America, may not recognise Nazi stuff? What? So Tiffany must know about her history but it's understandable of others don't know about their country history? Double standard there. I guess it's one rule for Korea another for everyone else to you.
As for usher why the fuck would I use him as an example when he's American and has no connection to Korea? If you bothered to read the comments you'd see knetz realise hes a foreigner who has no understanding of the flag hence the more subdued reaction. It's idiotic did you to even bring it up or still use him as an example.
I'm not gonna bother repeating myself or continue this when you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

At a very basic level kpop is primarily about singing right? So then what's the use in having more than 1 member when all you need is 1 singer? Why even have dance routines? The rest are all filler members in that case.
Obviously kpop is more than just singing that branches out to include dancing, TV, acting etc so every member has some sort of role
-
its not really comparable at all is the point lmao. most koreans are aware of what the rising flag looks like and aware of what it means. most people would not be able to identify that the mannequin was dressed in ww2 clothing. The koreans view what tiffany did as worse as i said because she is korean and they expect her to be able to identify the flag just how they shammed aoa group members when they couldnt identify the well known korean figures. The two situations just arent comparable. here is the nbuzz of korean comments about it as you can see its far less tame compared to backlash tffany got for clear reasons.
You're completely missing the point now and going of on your own tangent. For the last damn time Im not saying the situations themselves are comparable, im comparing the reactions to such type of events ie not knowing about certain historical incidents.
One situation got death threats and more while the other is saying take a chill pill and anyone offended is a hater.
Sounds more like you're backing knetz. You say Tiffany got it hard because she's Korean, despite growing up in America where the flag is more of a decoration but Koreans wouldn't know about ww2 even though out led to their liberation from the Japanese empire. So do they pick and choose which history they care about or something?
Its hypocritical for knetz to abuse Tiffany for not knowing history but turn around blame others/non Koreans upset at another idol who didn't know history even when it relates to Korea too.
-
Of course it's not going to be a 1 to 1 situation but it's more about the reaction of knetz regarding someone not knowing one country/culture. Tiffany was public enemy number 1 while knetz for now seem to not even care or understand what the issue is with Sowon and ww2/Nazis.
Very likely Tiffany didn't know about the ssun regardless of how long she lived and promoted there. Maybe she should've known but what's done is done. Expecting someone to know isn't the same as them actually knowing.
If it's expected that Tiffany must know then you could easily argue that since ww2 was such a defining era of history affecting the whole world (many colonies broke away, proxy wars were fought in Africa and middle east, new countries formed etc) then Sowon too should've known something about ww2. Korea itself was directly impacted by the events of ww2 as they and other eastern countries were liberated from Japan, allied with the Nazis, during ww2 when America nuked them thus ending Japan empire. So with that maybe Sowon should've known what the mannequin was all about since her county was affected by it right? See the problem, if you think someone should know something then you can easily flip it around and assume they in turn must know about something else.
Don't know what happened with Usher.
Like I said you can't expect everyone to know all things even in your own culture. If that was the case then a shit ton of people would be on the chopping block for things that "should" be common knowledge.

Honestly, most of Koreans who don't know anything about world history would walk past that without knowing who that was. I think that as a public figure, she was careless and should receive fair criticism, apologize and if she doesn't act like this again, it should be fine. Let's stop here.. But I'm afraid that these losers will try to relieve their stress on her and curse her to death
Not calling for hate on Sowon, just want to point something out regarding knetz.
It's ironic how knetz are so nonchalant with this line of of thinking yet had no problem proactively trying to get Tiffany exiled, killed and raped for her scandal. Tiffany grew up in America and even from debut up until a few years later was maybe an intermediate level Korean speaker which people made fun of and had a noticeabley more American style personality, in all likelihood she like most raised in the west didn't know about rising rise, especially as she was in Japan at the time were it's more common/accepted. Compounded further as Snapchat itself had it as a default filter showing the company too knew nothing of it. All in all it was obviously a mistake because she didn't know and corrected herself immediately. Yet that didn't stop knetz going totally mental on her for not knowing
Now when it's another case of someone possibly not knowing about history anyone that gets offended is a labelled loser planning death threats (and looking through things like Twitter and Reddit doesn't seem she's get death threats, more the usual cancelling) .....Hmmm that's totally not how Koreans reacted with Tiffany right? The hypocrisy is laughable.

girl, chill out with the insult. you can't have a civil discuss for half a second of your life?
your comment was oriented as if Tiffany is innocent because she use something "auto-generated" and Sowon is "deliberate". Please do not fool yourself into thinking using such intended word choices and then act surprised people interpreted your words as it intended to be interpreted.
You said Sowon "deliberate" while Tiffany was not. You even extended that Sowon must have planned it as if it took a really long deliberate time for people to decide they want to take a picture next to something. Smh
The filter was not "auto-generated", she chose the filter because it was cute. A careless mistake. Sowon didn't deliberate chose to stand next to a Nazi soldier because she knew it was a Nazi soldier. The only thing she "deliberate" was reposting it somewhere else which you did not mentioned in the first comment.
I get annoyed when people put words in my mouth when there's literal evidence in plain view for everyone to see showing I didn't say whatever I'm accused of. You deserved that insult.
I said auto generated because that's literally what snapchat used to do: automatically generate relevant backgrounds/filters depending on your location in the world (don't know if it still does as I don't use snapcaht). It's the same for anyone, for me I could have Union Jack backgrounds or big Ben and stuff like that. That's all, nowhere did I say she was innocent because at the end of the day she did make an mistake
I said Sowon was deliberate because the process of wanting a pic with the mannequin, posing, having someone else take a picture and then uploading to your account isn't just something you accidentally do. It's not like she fell into its arms while at that exact time someone took a pic who coincidentally was logged into Sowon account and hit the upload button by mistake right? Those set of actions in order are indeed objectively deliberate regardless of what you think.
Now whether you think she meant to offend is another matter and I have no opinion regarding that since I have no idea about what she knows of Nazis and stuff, im simply saying given the outcome of her scandal came about through her deliberate actions it will be seen as worse. And that's before I found out her re-uploading it, is even more worse and backs my original point of it being deliberate
So stop making up your own shit about what I said
-
So Tiffany is innocent but Sowon is malicious?
Lmao oh okay.
Both incidents are not good but no need to cancel them for it. Tiffany not recognizing the rising sun flag is not the same as not knowing Japanese imperialism. Same with Sowon. People can make careless mistake even though they know the history. Tiffany may not has been paying close enough attention and Sowon may have mistaken the mannequin just as another Western soldier. People love to vilify others more than necessary
Did you bother to read the first line of op or even my post or were you that eager to put words in my mouth?
I didnt say who was malicious or innocent idiot, I said Sowons scandal is much worse considering she had tons of time before the photo to think about what she's posting. And after she took it down and reuploaded it elsewhere. Lacking knowledge is one thing but people telling you what's wrong, taking it down and reuploading is another

Tiffany is a So Cal Asian American girl like me. I also didn't realize what the rising sun flag meant to non-diaspora Asians until I got into kpop. I learned about America's involvement in the WWII Pacific campaign through U.S. History class. But I learned it from a Western standpoint and not an Eastern standpoint.
I'm not like you or Tiffany but I live in the west (uk) and I've never heard of the rising flag being bad until Tiffany's scandal. Ask the years growing up I always saw that design used a pattern for various reasons. Video games had it, clothes had it, hell anything related to Japan had it including my school text books. Never knew anything was ever wrong with it. Hell I was barely
That's why I always felt that treating another culture of knowing exactly what's wrong with something is a bit unfair. I mean westerners associate the swastika as bad due to Nazi but I'm willing to bet a lot of them don't realise it's been used by other cultures/religions before Nazis even existed. I have Hindu friends who have used as a symbol to mean I think good luck were criticised for it by others (including me towards them before they explained it to me lol).
But sometimes you get things like even if you explain shit or its common knowledge and they still do the offensive/idiotic thing then that's a whole nother matter like what Sowon seemingly did in reposting it, or for a wider example the continued Confederate and Nazi stuff in America these days
