Well its not a remix its a whole new song so I expect it to have more success the Nicki and Megan collabs.

I only watched ON:E, hopefully I will be able to watch the upcoming one!

I'm really really excited for this!!
Had a slight fallout with kpop this year again but this collab brought me back !!
Its gonna be the best thing this year because neither group ever disappoints

I know they've done things like asc, idol room, tmi, and a couple of the members were on running man
Like their seniors they don't do that much on tv
Boy groups don't promote the same way anyway right? It seems like more female idols are put shows like amazing saturday and knowing brothers.Yeah I generally see a different approach to GGs than BGs, that's why I think GGs have more listeners.
But still, TXT barely get any for the level they're in, BH has to see that they have a fandom there, so just one or two known TV schedules will do wonders to them domestically (or I hope ) , the ones you mentioned are shows that are watched by fans alreasy and not a new demographic.
Running Man is a good way they should do it again!
You see how group songs go higher when promoted so I just don't get why BH doesn't do more? I don't think the same promo of BTS will help in this year, different times different strategies

Their new album is solid. Full of bops, and the title is amazing
They just need to start appearing in known TV shows for them to go off with the public, do they have any show appearances other than music shows and radios?
They have a sizeable fandom in korea it shows, but they need to build on it efficiently.
An appearance on Knowing Bros would be a great start! The boys are lovable the episode will be one of the best

1/ Indeed, k-pop was already big in these territories and it should be acknowleged too which is what 2nd gen stans are merely doing.
2/ Maybe BTS didn't receive much help in the sense that it's mostly girl groups that were popular before them? SNSD, KARA, 2NE1... I feel like only Big Bang was a noticeable boy group before BTS. So maybe that's the reason.
BUT! If we do this distinction between gg's and bg's, then I'm sorry but my faves owe next to nothing to BTS. I'm a gg stan, I don't care (much) about bg's and I don't care about BTS. If my faves have had the road paved for them, it has to be by Blackpink, who had the road paved for them by SNSD and 2NE1, etc.
1) I already acknowledge that, and many Armys do too.
2) We don't have to distinguish though. BTS effect and help is simply that US labels and shows see profit in Kpop groups now, and are capitalizing on them because they saw BTS, and also BP, actually going further than their niche, hence if this trend continues (which is already happening), it means that they have actually brought a new territory for Kpop for the US/west.
So yeah, if your faves are GIDLE for example (which I love too so taste!) they did gain help and used the "road" for their US/west expansion. Doesn't mean that they can't go bigger than that and even pave a new way for kpop, (maybe in the gaming world if they continue I could see it happening?)
-
I think it revolves around two things:
1/ why acknowledging the expansion to the US only? Why this US-centric distinction? That's something that can be discussed.
2/ some Armys seem to twist the words' meaning in order to send back to irrelevancy all other k-pop acts, past and present as if BTS popped into existence from a vacuum, which is simply untrue.
In my opinion there lies the crux of the problem.
1) Because BTS helped the most in the US. In Japan, China, and SEA kpop was already big.
2) Those armys are either trolls, or are just tired of this constant diminishing of BTS help in expanding kpop in the US/west.
Technically, they are not wrong in saying 2nd gen didn't help BTS much. It did give them fans at the beginning because of kpop already existing fanbase in the US at that time, but for BTS to reach all these heights and to make kpop more relevant are all on them.
If BTS had stayed in their popularity of 2017, I would say that yes, 2nd gen has much more influence on them and would've said that BTS didn't do much. But the level BTS are in in 2020/2021 are not something that other groups helped them for.

the term means to make growth and development easier in an area. those groups may have brought in more kpop fans but they didn’t make growth easier or development easier....
there’s a difference between being a founding father/mother of something and paving the way for something
Yes, exactly that. Its easy to see this so I don't know why there is fighting..

Forever was not a comeback it was just a cover
Be Natural is also a cover!

If anyone is gonna be credited for US/west expansion, PSY is gonna be mentioned, true he is not an idol, but he did have a global Korean song, hence made people from US at that time discover kpop.
He did help in that way.

For the main topic of the thread,
The word "paved the way" is being taken negatively here, and I don't know why.
The term simply says that these groups expanded the horizon for KPOP in the US in a very significant manner. I don't understand why people don't want to get this?
-
If anything, and I might be wrong about that as it's not really well thought out, BTS has mostly paved the way for other boy groups. I can understand how BTS blowing up in the West opened doors to other similar groups ie. other boy groups. But I don't feel like a group like Blackpink owes much to BTS. There's some overlapping between fandoms but how much? It seems to me other girl groups probably got the way paved for them by BP much more than by BTS.
I do think after the 3rd gen is over, BTS and BP are gonna be mentioned and giving credit for the US/west expansion.
Much like BOA and TVXQ are given the Japan expansion credit.
