You're welcome. This is a very simplified way of breaking it down. I'd have to do a lot more detailed work for a better breakdown but this is a kpop forum and nobody cares for that outside of maybe wsoet. Even the question OP asked is loaded since it's not asking for the top 5 girl groups in a specific context. Is it for 2024, since 2022 (when NJ and LSFM debuted), or over the course of all of their careers (all of which started at different times). Honestly, the fact that NewJeans topped 3 of the 4 categories I laid out as the youngest group of the 5 is incredible. you don't have to like them or their music, but I respect just how large they've become in less than 2 years.

We get this kind of question more than 10x a year comparing the top groups and the arguments goes beyond the just relevant metrics. It’s not easy to define what metrics should be considered because we all think differently.

Personally, especially when talking about a general “who are the top acts”, I would only look at the streams/digitals/sales that you mentioned. I don’t need to know if they went to Lolla, roofhits, advertisements, etc.

This is the kind of stats i’m looking for - only relevant metrics, clear comparison. Thanks, massive. You’re the best!

I was thinking of a weighted numbers for sales/streams/etc just like wsoet do sometimes but the ranking works too. This is easy to digest.

I'm just repeating the things that I already said lol

Those achievements just prove why NJ is #1 not how the others are far behind.

I said the others can also achieve what NJ has or maybe not - let's just see next year or next come back. Gosh, :meme-brick-wall:

You are so pressed lol. I said NJ is the obvious #1.

Everything NJ achieved may or may not be achieved by their peers in a year or in a comeback. It is not farfetch as you think it is. It is just a matter of if the other groups can close the gap.

Daesang, Gallup, Music Fests were achieved/done by other groups maybe not just in a scale of NJ but they did.. and that is where I believe NJ queening is not carved in stone yet.

This just proves what i said

NJ was the obvious number 1 but they aren’t too far. Their achievements is still closer to that of their 4GGG peers than BP.

    Voted for NJ.

I think we’re just quick to put Aespa against NJ now because we can see the charts as it is. But in a scenario where there is no NJ vs Aespa:

    • Aespa is killing like they do now but without NJ

    • NJ is 2 and 3 in kcharts and underperforming in some metrics compared to previous comebacks but IU, Zico, or viral nugu artist is dominating or BTS/BP

The answer would still be NJ. I think the votes right now is more of a projection.

Next comeback will tell. Interesting how 4th gen GG #1 reign is so short and we kinda accept that in this gen, it is more of a Top 3/4/5 dominance rather than a Top 1.

What’s the criticism? Is this it?

Netizens reacted to this with comments such as “I wonder if they just held a fan meeting,” “Is this an event for fans?”, “If this happens, the artist’s image will also get weird,” and “I’d rather only allow Jin albums to be eligible for entry.” there is.

It is a fan event ✅

It is a celebration of BTS anniversary, not just Jin’s. It just so happens only Jin can do this.

ARMY membership is always a requirement to all things BTS. Paying members do get priority for sure.

Album purchase is mainly their way of knowing who are participating in the event. It’s definitely not fair for those who already have their albums and don’t want to buy more but want to be part of it. I kinda get why buying albums is like a ticket to participate; It is a direct support to their music but there should be other ways to participate but I can’t think of suggestions atm lol

    Logistically, this is for K-Armys.
