huh...interesting...
all caucasian people?
yup
huh...interesting...
all caucasian people?
yup
every group of people around the world has culture no?
not caucasian people
people come at me so i go at them btw u don't have to apologize about anything i'm just debating but people cant seem to handle that.
Display Moreyou really heard me say "white privilege doesn't exist"? where?
this was my first comment. i mean- it's no point in continuing a very one-sided so-called debate if the other person is hearing things
and no, this is not a debate. at what point of time did you try to convince me that it existed where i said it didn't?
as a last and final comment, bias, also racial bias, is a belief. racism happens when these racial beliefs translates into actions.
me as a teenager could in norway expect different treatment because of peoples beliefs on how a teenager behaves. the same would go for a teenager of color.
would i receive different treatment because i was a caucasian teenager, while the other teenager was of, for example, african descent? no. this is something that proves how the norwegian society does not have this white privilege that you've implemented in your mind.
what i meant to say at the end was where i live respond to; "norway doesn't have white privilege, and i wouldn't believe any other scandinavian country does either" when u just proved it does...
The most important part of a debate is to listen to what the other side has to say. It's absolutely crucial to know what points the other side is making so that you can address those points and come back with your own rebuttal. If you just bulldoze through the conversation, it wouldn't be a debate, you wouldn't know what points to counter, and you wouldn't be able to convince anyone of anything. The only thing you'd convince them of is that you aren't able to build a valid case for what you're trying to say. As such, you would lose the "debate" by default.
Correct, but in this situation when i shut down the other girl she has already proved my point and when i pointed that out to her she tried to backtrack thats y i was done talking to her.
i never said nor thought that but tehe ig
If you're not going to read what others say, why bother having this discussion? On that same note, how would you feel if others would just ignore what you say and continue bulldozing their way through? Every time users call you out for such threads, you say that you're just trying to have a debate or a discussion. Well, you're not doing your part if you choose to ignore what others have to say about it.
I like free speech, even if it's an opinion I'm opposed to, so I'm not a fan of shutting down everything immediately. However, the goal should be to listen and reciprocate. We're blessed to have multinational, multicultural perspectives here. If you're not willing to hear people out and put in the effort to see where they're coming from, what's the point?
mama i only said this to one person and this person already proved my point yet it trying to backtrack what she said so it would for her narrative that "white privilege doesn't exist". THIS IS A DEBATE!
debate- The aim of a debate is to convince the opposition that you are right.
it's not about listening to what the other person has to say or seeing where the other person is coming from its im right because.....
Display Moreand with "tire me out" you just admitted to me having an actual good argument against what you have chosen to so strongly believe. i can clearly see that you'll never change your opinion as you have willingly implemented this opinion as existent in the world seen from your eyes. but i do hope that you one day will be open to see multiple sides of one topic, as there realistically is in every topic.
i never said 'they' would face bias. i said people may, in some cases, receive different treatment based on biases. whether these biases be negative, positive, reliant on race, religion, nationality, clothing, appearance, gender, mood, etc., as one would anywhere.
also, relating this whole thing to white privilege would come down to; "a person of a minority background will feel unsure about greeting a person on the street in norway, scared of being judged by their appearance"
the answer would generally (again generally, because people are psychologically different.) be no.
y do u think they would be bias?
do you feel like a white person would receive that same treatment?
what would they be bias towards?
"a person of a minority background will feel unsure about greeting a person on the street in norway, scared of being judged by their appearance" what is the word to this?
where did u prove me wrong
white privilege-inherent advantages possessed by a white person on the basis of their race in a society characterized by racial inequality and injustice.
u say that black people can face bias https://www.apa.org/topics/racism-bias-discrimination which is racism becuase they are black but the same wouldnt happen if they were whte becuase according to ur logic "there isn't racism where your from" which would mean everyone is treated the same but because that person is black they would not because "bias"(which is racism).... babe. you.proved.nothing.
just because i don't want to talk anymore doesn't mean you proved me wrong.
Display Morei think that you should check up what white privilege is again, cause that's not it.
biases works in every direction. there's plenty of negative biases against people identified as white, i took an example of biases towards people of color as that was what was in topic of this conversation. i'm not saying these biases are good, i'm saying they exist. i'm not saying these biases are common, i'm again saying that they exist.
oxford languages defines white privilege as "inherent advantages possessed by a white person on the basis of their race in a society characterized by racial inequality and injustice".
in a society characterized by racial inequality and injustice.
white privilege is not existent in norway because the norwegian society is not characterized by racial inequality and injustice. the norwegian society doesn't differ between people reasoned by race.
the police is not more likely to see one as a possible criminal because you are one of a different race of color. school's doesn't require uniforms, hairstyles or the removal of religious items. children's books read for children at the age of 4 months are inclusive in skin colors. children's tv shows are inclusive in both race and religion. the color of 'nude' in makeup and clothing ranges from pale white to ash brown.
i am not saying it is perfect. there's a lot that could be better, not just regarding treatment and views on race, but all over as a society. but white privilege, by definition, is not existent in norway.
i'm not about to read all this like u said they would face BiAsE because of their race when its stereotyping , prejudice, and unfairness.
bias-
prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.
like u said black people would generally be treated the said but asked why generally u said because people are bias(racist) to black people, ur starting to tire me out let's end the convo here you already proved my point.
Except it does and it's like that in every country. The whole reason black/Latino/Asian culture here exists to because of the differences from standard American culture aka white culture. Because white people are the majority, the emphasis on race doesn't isn't as necessary.
This "take" of yours invalidates POCs and our struggle to have our own cultures recognized
i understood nothing u said?
well let's see einstein, you quoted and tagged me, of course i'm going to respond...genius.
einstein-
