Still Life won't catch Tomboy unless BB suddenly decides to emerge from their caves and do some promotion or it has some kind of viral moment - chances of both happening are virtually nilch.

If it end's up top 10 yearly on Gaon that is already an achievement and will have outperformed Flower Road.

G Dragon and Taeyang have both won Daesangs as soloists, but neither have released albums since 2017.

GD has the stats to back him up - digitals/album sales/touring. Taeyang's digitals can be hit or miss and his albums sales aren't great but he can tour.

Then you have the likes of Zico/Hyuna/Sunmi and whoever else but I'm not sure about their stats.

This isn't quite true - but I believe Heartbreaker did sell close to BB's highest selling album.

GD's solo fandom is huge though, and unfortunately they move very cult-like akin to a traditional BG fandom (especially his chinese fans), which is why he has never been able to publicly date/marry like his bestie Taeyang.

VIP's have always had a reputation for being a 'lazy' fandom, even during BB's infancy.

For the most part, they never partook in mass buying, mass streaming and mass voting etc. and the members themselves never encourage this type of behaviour - though tbh they're album sales were pretty good for what it was compared to their peers at the time.

The members used to say things like 'If you like another group, it's okay to leave us' or 'If you don't like our album don't buy a copy' - so VIP's never developed a cult-like mentality.

Also as others have said, BB had the GP wrapped around their fingers, they didn't need the album sales for the extra validation, as they already had everything else - digitals, tour numbers, endorsements etc.

The remaining BB's are very close:

GDYB have been best friends since 13 (20 years of friendship now)

GTOP have also been friends since middle school (GD was the one who told TOP to audition for YG)

Daesung is also known to be very close to the other members

The only one who had drifted apart was Seungri and we all saw how that turned out...

I think they are testing the waters with the new single, but they are all mid-30's now and it's understandable if they no longer want to continue idol life. My personal opinion is that they will come back every few years (like they've done since 2008 tbh) and in between either tour or pursue their own personal interests whether that be music/art/fashion etc.

Don't think they've had one 'flop' title track since their breakout in 2007. A 'flop' for them would be charting outside the Top 10 on the yearly chart. Crazy thing is many still argue their peak in Korea to be 2008.

Lets hope they release a song or album for their 15th anniversary this year for fairer comparisons, as music consumption has changed alot for the past 5 years they've been away.

GD has just confirmed in an interview he is working on an BB album, and its their 15th anniversary this year so I think something is brewing.

Their comebacks are always an 'event' so to speak, and I think they're just waiting for the right opportunity to strike. I reckon it'll be around August time for their 15th anniversary.

Complete chart dominance - newbie Kpop fans who have yet to witness a BB comeback, and those who are writing them off after BS will be in for a rude awakening.

I've seen it happen for each comeback since 2011, and the subsequent meltdowns from rival group fandoms never fails to amuse. History will repeat itself once again.
