I think it's safe to say that T-ARA could have been on SNSD's level, or a bit higher, but SNSD will have the longer longevity since they have the bigger fan base (which is the main driver for album sales) and general public; while T-ARA is heavily on the general public with a better than average fandom. By the way, T-ARA's best-selling album is Funky Town (with "Lovey-Dovey" as title) with almost 78K sales.
T-ARA could have had South Korea, Japan, China, three reputable idol actresses, and variety.
Oh well, it's still unfortunate to think about of what happened. They might be still active right now, uwu.
Physicals was really not their strong suit. They were mostly GP driven that made them digital monsters. They could have earned better sales with China on their backs but things just went crashing down.
Those 3 reputable idol actresses(Jiyeon, Eunjung, and Hyomin) are the best idol actresses Kpop ever had.

i strongly disagree. bc to make it to snsd level they would have had to be able to compete with snsd in physicals as well. i could also use the argument that snsd was huge in japan too. i think if the scandal didnt happen they wouldve continued to be top gg status (which they already were), on par with snsd but not beating them. t-ara’s popularity in sk was crazy but their fandom wasnt as strong as snsd’s which reflected in their physicals. snsd had both.
But if they just stayed for longer, their Chinese fans would have helped in physicals since they have wrapped China in their fingers.

rv is the best parallel, both have had many hits, both album sales weren't as strong as others but they're there lol, all members are well known, both were never the #1 gg but always were in the top 3, and were still able to compete with the top ggs
btw not yall saying they were on the same level as snsd, they were huge don't get me wrong but aside from digitals t-ara couldn't compete with them.
They were honestly on the road to levelling SNSD. Physicals was not T-ara's strong suit before but their digitals were on par with SNSD. And the members' popularity were as huge as SNSD members especially Jiyeon, Eunjung and Hyomin. Their status in China was also so huge that they always won awards there.
If the scandal didn't happen, they might have beaten SNSD. But history is history.

Even now China still love them.

Rosé will surely help BP in terms of getting a hold of Korean GP since her vocals are well-loved by the Knetz and casual international fans since she also has a big appeal internationally.
Lisa surely help gain a bigger number of international fans since she's the most well-known internationally.
Jisoo's drama for sure will be a hit. Of course, its Jisoo. But the feedbacks in terms of her acting might affect things somehow.

Pre-scandal days, T-ara was on their way to beating SNSD. In fact, their song, Roly Poly was the most downloaded and impactful song during their era.
They were not just dominating in Korea but also in Japan and most especially China. T-ara was literally China's girl group that time. Their fandom, Queens, was able to beat Beyonce's fandom in Billboard Fandom Contest or whatever it was called.
Their members were also very popular especially Jiyeon(who was known as Little Kim Tae Hee and was able to beat Suzy and Yoona as the most beautiful Kpop idol twice), Eunjung(she was with Suzy in Dream High 1) and Hyomin(for her sexiness).
They served hits after hits. But unfortunately, that stupid scandal happened and everythign went crashing down. But even then, China embraced them very tightly that they still managed to be its girl group. Even until now, they are still known in China.

One thing I can say about this thread is that an idol chosen as a brand muse, brand ambassador and global ambassador can at least secure a good deal of income and fame. They can also secure a better status in the entertainment industry especially that most of the time, idols are not given better treatment.
-
kpop gets boring when all people talk about their faves' high fashion brand deals, isn't it supposed to be a music industry
Just like what Rosé said, "Music and Fashion are always together."
-
I haven't seen any official announcement besides random Korean websites calling her a muse but I do remember a collection being inspired by her. Could you link the post?
Rosé's campaign being everywhere doesn't equal being a muse. It just means that she's their most marketable ambassador. Which is true!
I don't think you know something about high fashion modelling.
Muse sounds so prestigious but in actuality, its the least prestigious title. It actually goes like this
Muse > Brand Ambassador > Global Ambassador
So saying that Rosé and Lisa might get there as Brand Muse is incorrect. They actually were elevated from being a Muse to Global Ambassadors.
-
Being a global ambassador is even bigger and more prestigious than being a muse. Rosé's face being plastered all over the world and representing almost all lines (RTW, Bags, Eyewear and Beauty) is a proof of her being the face of YSL.
