ThisGuy I guess she doesnt flop digitally
itunes is pretty much dead and almost every kpop act with a decent following has topped itunes. Spotify and apple music is something more reliable
I don't know which moron said that Aespa releases music that is reminiscent of the 2nd gen but that is absolutely not the case here. This person must've not listened to 2nd gen music at all.
It's quite simple why they're doing well. most 4th gen gg's debuted perhaps a bit too early for them to take all the attention away from 3rd gen. it has only been in 2020 that it is apparent that the 3rd gen is slowing down popularity wise. RV didnt chart that great, Twice didnt chart that great, Blackpink barely releases music. So for a gg to become big in this time frame specifically (aka 2021), is what solidified the public interest.
TXT fans take the crown
melon is so small, yet she can't chart there
Blinks will do anything but come to terms with the fact that lisa's solo debut flopped (digitally)
I've come to the conclusion that Lucid Dreams is the best song on the album
i check the charts quite frequently. It was more at the end of 2nd gen, their groups started to trail behind. EXO did amazing but the moment in 2017 when SM slowed ddown promotions and BTS took over their spot, Is when SM really starting to lose it in the digital department. RV had some big hits, and Taeyeon got robbed twice from a PAK (by Mnet as usual). But besides those two. They weren't doing well. And to make it worse when RV had 3 flops back to back in 2018/2019. SM rarely did well. Only with Taeyeon they managed to do well, and some EXO solo's did well. Whereas JYP and YG were topping the charts back to back 2017 and onwards. It's now that 4th gen is becoming a thing, that we see SM being on top with NCT and Aespa. Also the charts changed rules multiple times and it is harder to hit #1 now, but it is easier when you reach the top 10/20 to stay there for longer periods of time. Whereas before the rule change, we had a different #1 song everyday (because boy group stans could easily manipulate the charts), and it would only take about 20k+ unique listeners to chart high. Whereas now you probably need atleast 80-100K to have decent charting
With Aespa being digital powerhouses at this point.
2021 has been a very interesting and succesful year for SM, digitally.
Look i've been listening to K-pop since 2011. And SM was always not as strong as JYP and YG when it comes to digitals.
But seeing SM being the only label to have a boygroup have a big hit this year with Hot Sauce (besides BTS ofcourse), And Aespa having most likely a national hit under their belt in their first year, Taeyeon dominating the top 10 with Weekend for 3 months now, Aespa taking over the #1 spot with Savage just 6 hours after release, against justin bieber and BTS ft coldplay, and Red Velvet being in their 7th year yet still charting high on that charts (with arguably their weakest title track). It's safe to say, SM is a king in digitals.
King in the sense that they have multiple artists/groups that can easily top the charts. Whereas JYP and YG have been dwindling down with Lisa being out of the top 100 in 2 days, twice having troubles entering the top 10, and any of their boy groups not making any impact on the charts, and HYBE literally only having BTS that can do well. SM is leading the 4th generation.
and let me tell you, i NEVER WOULD'VE THOUGHT THAT SM WOULD TAKE THE DIGITAL THRONE
she is out streaming every kpop soloist and every kpop group other than bts and blackpink on spotify and youtube. and who even care about Korean charts.
some of you wants her to perform like taylor swift. Save this energy for your own faves chart performance.
and selling > 700000 albums in a week is not a flop
out of delusional fans who bulk buy and zombie stream. Y'all couldnt even touch domestic and international charts. The one thing you couldn't manipulate
I wish the final chorus was atleast twice in the full song. It woudld've made it longer and overal better. Cause that final part is where it goes hard.
I don't know, it felt like a towned down version of "rolling in the deep" by adele. It didnt have much staying power and other songs on the album were stronger than that one. I would've liked it more as a pre-release than the actual title track. But still her discography is unmatched
Bruh HYBE artists lipsync the most........
She is arguably the most hyped up member of blackpink.
And i already had my worries for her going solo. considering she is a sub-vocal and how she most likely wont rap the entire song.
My expectations were low, and it still was terrible for me.
The MV, looked hella cheap in some parts, like the outside part looked baadly filmed and the dancers were not on point. She was amazing in the MV but she is a great performer. It looked in some parts like a hyuna/GD knock off video. Now the song, thats where it gets worse. Who approved this? I wish the rumors of Lisa with DJ Snake were true cause she would've suited EDM dance or Moombahton a lot more than whatever this was. It sounded like a parody of a kpop song. Like as if they were tryna parody Hyuna Red or something.
Can't believe they wasted so much time on these solo's ( i loved rose's solo, that was amazing), they need a group comeback ASAP, other groups are definitely gaining momentum. I honestly don't see the song peaking further than maybe 3rd on MelOn and then hanging around the mid 20's. Also on spotify, knowing how big BlackPink is, she can maybe peak around the top 5 on the world top 50. But then in a week she'll be off the chart completely. She'll do well on youtube ofcourse, and maybe break some records But this solo is not it
y'all this part made me sad
"No song here is outright bad, and much of their best assets shine through the banalities, but Queendom feels like a signpost of Red Velvet’s former glory. You come to it expecting to meet the royals in the flesh, only to be confronted with their portraits instead."
he's so right, Red Velvet is passed their glory days i think
The Red is probably my all time favorite album (behind girls & Peace ofcourse)
SM is known for self sabotaging their older GG's. I expected this to happen maybe next year but not this fast. The thing is, QUeendom is still doing well on the charts, better than most GG's. SM is having a good year, a VERY good year. 3 songs of them are now in the top 10, Weekend, Next Level and Queendom. SM really doesnt have to sabotage RV but i guess since contract renewals are coming up soon, they already starting.
