it was actually very controversial back then for being so obviously heavily inflated by fans (one of the last big fandom zombie streaming and multiple downloads attempts before Melon made it harder) but fans pretend they don't remember that I guess?
I remember tons of discussions about kokobop and the weird download/streams ratio and the insane inflation of unfiltered vs filtered numbers.
it still did well, EXO have a huge fandom of course but yeah, it wasn't a national hit or anything.
yes, surprised no one is mentioning this. I too don't remember much but that there was an issue with the numbers ..anyways, it was still a good song and was well received.

..how things have evolved noh?In my 10 years in kpop, this was the most interesting thing to see go down. First came all the denial and the mocking. The soap box rhetorics about "western validation" ..and the current kpop industry's situation right now. LOL.

lol the funny thing was, when they saw bts win that "paper award" and the attention they were getting, kpoppies were of course jealous ..and went on to pester Jefferson on how to also chart on the social 50 chart ..this then led to kpoppies tagging the hell out of their faves in every tweet (even while dissing BTS, mind you, the gall) and this is also how the social50 chart now looks like an inkigayo lineup with western guests lol ..alas, all that effort only led to a fight for #2 spot
hypocrites quickly went from "western validation" ..to "asian representation" when their faves were involved. armys always have the last laugh though.
I entered the fandom in 2017 and things have just been very amusing

lol to reiterate, the answer, with these cases, is always simply because.. they are BTS. lots of kpop stans hate their mere presence. they think that BTS is the cause of all their faves' failures and sufferings lol. I'm sure a lot of them are foaming at the mouth excited for the much awaited enlistment because it's the only time they feel their faves can ever achieve anything.

There have been rumors about this going around for a few years now. Even one of the dkdktv boys mentioned this apparently from someone working at BH. This would also be my wish for them (if they wanted to). Several months wouldn't be too bad as opposed to a few of them enlisting in the next several years. Hopefully lots of content will be put out. And praying especially for that ultimate documentary movie/series about them. Let's see what happens. I know armys will be here and support their decisions.

Lol kinda like in school, when exam exemption is at 90% average but then your classmates petition exemption cutoff to be lowered to 60% because you're the only one getting 90% ..not in the same level, hence they don't deserve that exemption
Anyways, was just thinking ..I wonder if this was also the reason why some companies pushed certain groups to the west, with all the trappings - bundling, free/cheap concerts, western backing and promo etc - just so those groups can place on the billboard charts? Is it possible that they thought placing on the billboard charst would get them that special enlistment treatment?? lol.
But the government really went and said "Hagwan order of cultural merit or nothing" :-D:-D

Signal is actually one of my most favorite kdramas of all time but it's quite heartbreaking - I cried a lot watching and rewatching it haha. This song seems perfect for the movie version, which I think will have the same concept as the drama.

hi! sorry haven't been on here alot lately but just saw this thread (and I didn't go through the posts, sorry, lol) but honestly, this was my thought when I saw shinee comeback and today, when I checked out SJ's (and I used to really stan before too).. to me, songs sound like an exo or nct song? must be SM's thing right now?
*also no need to reply to me, just wanted to post as I share the same thoughts. don't really want to go into specifics or debate with anyone ..it was just the first thought that came to mind

As with anything for BTS and ARMYs, it has always been baby steps to achieve our goals. We fall/lose/fail but we learn from it all, pick ourselves up and move forward and upward. I joined this fandom back in 2017 and I am proud of how much we all have helped accomplish for the boys. It took years, but her we all are.. the freakin grammys!!! lol! who would have thought!

lol the double standard ..I mean good for him, despite it being already on a level 2 restriction whereas idols before were crucified and witch hunted even at a time /without/ restrictions. guess it really depends on the idol/s then.
