Weren’t Bunnies claiming this was an approved use of a sample? Obviously it wasn’t. Sounds like Ador isn’t going to budge, so this could be going to court. Would they file suit in London?

It’s the Asian music awards? If it’s only in a theatre I presume no big name groups will be going to the LA date.

It all depends on the song, if it’s amazing it will do well in Korea (top 5). If not it’ll maybe get top 10 and then fall off.
It’ll do well on Spotify regardless because of Hybe payola. But longevity will again depend on the song. Something like Smarter is what they should go for, they should definitely concentrate on expanding internationally because I think their brand is a bit ruined in Korea.
-
But longevity has also increased for hits which can make up for peaks? I do think she is talking about songs that peak high but lack longevity as uls and activity r low.
There were probably more downloads back then, which would have made up the difference.
I think she’s only talking about Korean music services? Anyway the vast amount of money she earns from royalties will be from physical album sales. In Korea, Lyricists, Composers and Producers share 9% of the price agencies sell the album to retailers for.
So say Cube sells their albums to retailers for US $8 (this is just an example). Gidle’s last full album 2 sold 1.6 million copies, so that’s 12.8 million dollars all up.
Nine percent of that is 1.152 million dollars to the songwriters/producers. And Soyeon would get the Lion’s share of that.

I pray this is true.

So I listened to the TWS song (nothing like controversy to get you some attention I guess) and it sounded like they were totally ripping off StrayKids’ style. Like if you told me that was a StrayKids b-side I wouldn’t blink.
Then I listened to the Bigbang song and wow - that is indisputably straight up copying - whether it rises to the legal definition of plagiarism in Korea I don’t know. When you combine it with the visual similarity of the MV Bigbang were clearly the inspiration for this. If any of the original songwriters decide to make an issue out of this, I totally see them changing the writing credits.
Apparently Hybe is getting all the articles about this deleted in
Korea though.

Congrats to them both! I always liked Tao.

Nope. Soyeon is great, but she has a long way to go to be on GD's level. Especially, because GD is successful even as a soloist, unlike Soyeon. If anyone is at his level, that's IU.
Idol GROUP member or Idol? Because this thread isn't clear about this. That's why I mentioned IU.
Also, Soyeon said this not long ago! She's not earning that much every time, because royalty is not a monthly payment.

Idol group member obviously, I wouldn’t consider IU an idol personally. Though I don’t know what the official definition is.

I don’t think you can compare the two like this, they’ve both achieved incredible success in songwriting/producing but the circumstances are so different you can’t really compare.
I will say that I believe Soyeon to be the most successful female idol songwriter and producer because she’s earned much more money from that than any other female idol.

I hope he has lots of fun! I bet the other members are super jealous of him getting to go to the Olympics!

All my tamagotchis died, I could never do that to BTS. The guilt would eat at me.

That doesn’t surprise me, she earns a good chunk of the royalties from Idle’s music so when added to touring and CFs she must have earned a lot of money the last few years.
-
Idle of course!

1. They’re not dating, let alone marrying Zico.
2. Zico has not been found to be involved in the Molka chat in any way. The only evidence against him is his own words about viewing a golden phone, and he says the one he looked at years before the incidents for which that guy was convicted didn’t have any molka on it. Whether he’s telling the truth or not is impossible to know.
