Good pop is good pop and being a great performer is an art within itself no matter who wrote the music or lyrics.

But the overwhelmingly dominant group in kpop and honestly pop mostly writes their own lyrics. That doesn't really mean anything by itself and using it to drag other artists just because is stupid and just kpop fanwarring being fanwarring. Still, it's normal for a very successful group to become a 'standard', especially if they're very successful for an extended period of time.

In terms of using it to shade others: Not saying this is a good thing, as this topic coming up a lot shows, but ARMY using it to differentiate BTS comes from years of endless undermining of their success and impact, so the way to fight was to use the things that make them stand out and probably contributes a lot to their success. This includes the lyrics, the topics they write about and their authenticity. The rise of other groups with strong writers on their team, like Skz and Gidle, support the idea this helps create a winning formula. And kpop is tanking in Korea mostly, anything to stand out is good.

Often tho' it's just the usual kpop race to the bottom and a response to drags from another fandom. (Since ARMY are definitely not the only ones who use that any longer)

like sshuqi said there isn't a huge market for mainstream pop or even rock acts right now in the west; but I've never been into western bgs and only into some ggs (Destiny's Child, Little Mix) with full-grown vibes and great vocals. Groups are mostly indie pop and rock.

I love dancing tho' and great choreography as well as live performances, so the groups i like give me that along with music I enjoy.

I was more excited as an ARMY before hearing all the major artists not on the service, and how expensive it is; with how long it took, I really wonder how many hoops they had to jump through even to launch there.

I think only time will tell if it's going to be competition to Melton etc or more fizzle like Apple Music - library size has to be one of the main reasons people sign up to a streaming platform, it certainly is for me.

😭😭 I’m not sure what I was thinking with the title, I’ve changed it now. My apologies, my head was elsewhere before I actually thought up the post.

heh no problem I totally get it the difference just struck me, honestly that's sort of the tone here at times so it wasn't out of place!!!

This is going to be interesting.

KARMY are aware of it's possible impact on the global charts for BTS and are celebrating, but of course they can't abandon the local services - and curious how much the GP there is open to switching? That'll of course be key. But no one is as good at streaming and knowing how to prioritize as Korean BTS fans they're incredible

I wonder if this is why Seo Teiji's catalog has disappeared, if certain complex agreements in SK specifically have triggered changes in what's available where.

No one's actually specifically spoke to my arguments tho'; I keep waiting for ppl to get off my conduct in my first message and break it down, I'm okay being wrong, just trying to focus them. (sorry your mentions are a mess, seriously!)

This is not addressed to me and I have already quoted you to say that but perhaps you didn't see it or ignored it but let me say something.

You were the first to talk about an enraged sheep mentality and people being manipulated by those who want to take BH and BTS down as if people don't know their own mind and can't like or dislike something without being manipulated or driven by a desire to hate without reason.

I don't think it's strange people reacted to that.

If people had been called mindless company stans here, which there wasn't any mention of at least until your post or at all as I don't remember such a post, you would have reacted as well.

I actually didn't have time to answer everyone! Sorta mass approved all, didn't mean to ignore.

But I'll apologize for the 'enraged sheep' statement - I genuinely don't have any desire to make ppl feel bad. Never ever my intention. And ppl have a right to call me out, just like I have a right to call them out. There's this strange narrative of pushing back being equated with 'silencing' and that's not how a forum like this works. I was talking about the larger dialogue which you've been involved with as well - I answered the OP's question, I did not derail the thread. I'm not surprised some disagreed with me, I expected it. I'm sorry if my initial language was too hardcore.

Yet my opinion remains unchanged. The issue is less how those who feel the need to complain incessantly about BH and BTS choices but why they feel a need to spread that opinion almost religiously.(Also yes, I do believe these are waves of radicalization in ARMY against BH. Karmy have caught these bad actors multiple times, and there are a lot of suspicious ringleaders of these movements to paint them as a bad company using lies, fake rumors and compelling but faulty logic to create a story that doesn't make sense. Negative emotion has been proven to spread much, much easier online than positive, esp on twitter and other short-format platforms.)

There is an increased tendency to hijack positive things that are happening with BTS and turn them negative and an attack of some sort, usually on BH but often on other outside parties.

Also, I don't see the point of engaging in a pop culture fandom, especially BTS where their whole goal is to make us happy and help our lives, if it becomes filled with unhappiness and the desire to change so much of what they do. That's not our place as fans or consumers.

I truly don't see the arguments that BTS is in any way mistreated, shorted, misused, abused, ill-served, and when I ask for them I get these repeated messages on my conduct, not my core point. The discussion always get turned into something else when I'm pointing that out. Despite how there is little proof and BTS themselves (who. know. What's going on. better than fans, full stop.) stating they are happy this need to flip joy into anger is getting worse and curdling ARMY conversations and fun. I want actual receipts and discussion, not examples BH marketing imperfectly or not spending money exactly in the same ways some fans would.

If I concede that I shouldn't have used the language I did at the beginning of the thread, will you engage on my points above?

BTS growth was never bad imo. I love how BTS switches from bright to dark concept every comeback. They are versatile and I hope they stay the same. Sticking to one concept is no fun.

Agreed! Honestly bc I'm the type to like lots of different songs and not stick to one sound I think that's why they're my ults - I never get bored and they've never let me down? It's really exciting to stan them because of that! Can't expect what's coming next but it'll always be A+++++

for real I was so surprised when I saw LGO on tv

it's quite annoying that at this point , we still have to beg radio DJs to play their songs while other acts that does quarter of what bts does gets better treatment :boredr::sweatr1:

Yeah it's so damn annoying (Congrats on your upcoming nuptials!!!) - being a BTS fan has taught me so much about how corrupt the US Music industry is, and I knew a solid bit before. Everyone knows it's all payola but nothing is done, sadly.

jesus the new bangtan bomb is everything, yoongi needs to calm down
