I go to one of the hardest universities, it’s hard and demanding but I know it will be worth it. I’ve pulled countless all nighters already. Actually I’m doing one as we speak lol

On top of being powerless to do anything about it. Most of the people protesting and demanding someone do something, they themselves are usually cowards or hypocrites. Oh how do you stop a war? Regardless of which side you back how do you stop them when talking doesn't work? Well obviously you have to fight one. Most of these people would run the moment you told them you'd have to get your fists up and go fight or pick up a gun. Or they would demand their government to keep their military out of it
So why are you protesting if you won't actually do something about it or allow your nations military do something about it? It's all hypocrisy once the issue actually affects them suddenly they want nothing to do with it.
Agree, if they are so passionate about their cause, they should go there and fight instead of living comfortably in a wealthy western country and engaging in armchair activism.

I think if you are in capable position to access information and be critical with media reporting it’s good to do that because civilians on the ground depend on people like them to bring light to their situation. i.e. protests in EU countries prevent the EU to stop humanitarian aid for the ground. this week people protests to demand governments stop supporting IDF financially until they hold ceasefire in hope there will be no more victims (they already asked US$ 10bill to DC)
Like you said, PR works from both side are muddy so keeping facts afloat and not washed by media is half the battle.
I guess this is a EU specific thing. In America , it doesn't matter how much people protest for or against something, politicians will just push stuff through banking on peoples short attention span. So maybe it's less democratic than the EU? idk.

Your only responsibility in life is to live and let live. Pursue your happiness and don't infringe upon others' human rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit happiness. That's all there is to it.
Anything else is optional. Ideally, do what you can to make a positive impact, big or small, in your own community. That's good enough.
The Internet often pressures and guilt trips people into caring about issues they have no real connection to. Often this complicates things even further because people don't actually understand what's going on since they're so removed from the situation. Traditionally, people only cared about things within their local communities.
I think, by default, people already care about lives being lost to senseless violence. We all have that empathy in common, or that's what I hope.
I’m so happy people like you exist. I keep stumbling upon the “silence is violence” types lol.

I If you say you don't care people might come after you badly. But I do think it's important to keep up with what's happening in the world. You don't have to have a firm stance if you are ignorant to what's going on, but at least you could have sympathy for innocent lives being taken during times of war.
Protests bring light to the situation. If there's war in the world and injustice you want to go out and fight for justice and peace as well as make people more aware of what's happening so they can donate to the cause. Yes, we are normal people, but that doesn't mean as a whole we don't have power. Protests all around the world spark change. That's our power, our voices.
I do have sympathy for people. I have lots of Jewish friends and I’ve met Palestinians at school too. But really no offence PR doesn’t really do anything and it doesn’t win military battles lol.

I know this is bad to say but whenever I see protests at my school or around my city I just don’t see how that does anything to help anyone?
I mean isn’t this the case for most of those faraway conflicts you hear about?
Like what do these people expect random commuters to do, we are just normal people, with little power to change things in the world.
I’m not entirely in the loop with this situation but I can already see and hear people everywhere talking about this and everyone has an opinion. Is it wrong if I just… don’t?

Do not buy these please. It does not work at all. The whole idea is that you put cold water and ice in it and the fan will blow the mist from the tank supposedly creating cold air.
But, here’s the thing, if you already live in a semi humid environment, it wont work because your room needs to be able to hold the cold moisture the fan is projecting. In humid environments, the amount of mositure in the air is already at its peak and adding more will either not make a difference or make it worse actually (more humid). - this is why dehumidifiers exist by the way, to suck water out of the air.
It might work in the winter when there is a lot more dryness and you can feel the cold moisture but all in all, it’s a useless piece of 💩
It’s not strong enough anyway. My advice: If you don’t have an AC either buy an actual unit or just get a big fan.

I've seen that raised individualists have a really hard time adapting to other societies e
True, I don’t feel like I would be able to breathe in a society like that.

It just takes some getting used to, the key being to acknowledge that a lot of the "unpleasantness" comes from ignorance rather than hate. People who only engage with their own ethnic or racial group feel less of a need to be politically correct, so they're generally more used to being blunt with each other
I’m not saying this is inherently “hateful” per se. But the idea that you are one people one race and one distinct society is a state building myth you have to keep indoctrinating people into believing. So it’s not like there aren’t certain nationalist ideologies that cement the “Korean” at the exclusion of “the other” It’s just this whole thing of “they don’t know” is questionable. Either way, I still want to travel there regardless and see the country just as a tourist . I think too many people fantasize about starting some fantasy life there w they oppas or whatever lol. This is long but I’ll keep it short, I’m just saying u can like K-pop and Korean culture without making ur whole life about idolizing a country you know nothing abt.

I can't speak for SK but I can for China which is very similar and very homogenised
I remember going there with a friend (white white) and to the more "country/rural" areas of china where they don't see many white people - that was a shock to them lol
for a lot of the people there it's more ignorance than outright racism racism...
I mean China is pretty diverse compared to Korea no? They even have a huge Korean minority, Russians, Tibetan. Judging by my own experiences, Chinese people seem to be pretty open minded about these things. Like I think you would be more likely to find a job in China and than Korea.

I think people are holding Korea to the standards that they've been advertised. Korea voluntarily presents itself as a place that people should want to go to, so it's natural that people expect to be welcome there.
I agree with this. But I also don’t understand why you would promote your country to foreigners if you dislike foreigners so much and your country and it’s people are not accustomed to different kinds of people. I remember at my university, there was this fair held by people from Korean universities trying to encourage students to do an exchange there. Like dude you hate us but u want us to study in ur country? Lol, where is the logic?

I feel like every time I’m on Reddit, all I see are foreigners in Korea ranting abt how they think Korea is racist and all the other isms and how unwelcoming the country supposedly is and how they will never be accepted in Korean society.
I don’t understand the mentality of going to a foreign country and expecting people to roll out the red carpet for you?? I think a lot of these kids are raised in multicultural countries western countries like US, Canada, Australia and we are always taught to welcome and accept foreigners, but I don’t think there is anything wrong with a country wanting to be homogeneous like??They don’t have to welcome you. Plenty of Eastern European countries like Poland, Hungary resist immigration too. Is it wrong to only want to live amongst your own people? I mean it’s not what I would want personally, but it’s not like they have ever had a history of immigration. I can see how and why they might perceive foreigners as a threat.
It’s like the Paris Syndrome where people are so piped up to visit this country because of this image they have in their head but then they are disappointed after they realize….wait for it… it’s just another country…. Shocker!

I have this friend who, in casual conversation, use the n word all the time casually kind of like it was a "cool" thing. I brought it up one day and he said when he uses it colloquially and it's different?? Then, a bit later, he just openly admitted he does not like black people and said he thinks they have "questionable cultural practices" and that the they have done bad things to the Chinese community (he's Chinese).
In knowing this person, I have observed probably lots more problematic shit. I decided to cut ties completely. I just feel so sad man, the moment I start thinking I made a new friend they always have to be so weird. Why do I always attract the weirdest nut jobs??

thought about doing eyeliner/eyeshadow

It’s just a bad foot forward and their logo is basic and uncreative

It's just this song i guess. Because their other single names are Get a Guitar and Memories. Probably these two singles will be in the sad pop song genre. It's obvious from their names.

It’s a dated image. Reminds me of H.O.T or whatever. Either way, I had hoped the in your face noise music era had died, guess not. We want a new sm group not a nct/stray kids

I feel like everytime I am on the main page, all I see are official staff posting the most provocative gossipy type articles and im not even talking about speculative articles, but articles that were proven wrong already.
Take this example about the supposed “D.O E-cigarette scandal” …..it’s already been proven false and the gif was taken from an excerpt of video and edited. But, the article is still up and has thousands of views.
EXO's D.O. allegedly spotted smoking an e-cigarette in a music program waiting areaE-cigarettes have become a topic of debate in the K-Pop industry lately, and the latest idol allegedly involved in an e-cigarette issue is EXO's D.O…www.allkpop.comAnother example is the “Jisoo dating scandal”. They keep pushing this narrative about Jung Hae In introducing them or something even tho he denied it. But akp seems to want to milk this dead horse as much as possible. They have written almost 5 different articles pushing these rumors.

it just focuses on surface level feminism doesn't it when they have, margot robbie, a blond blue eyed stereotypical barbie as the main lead? imagine if it addressed intersectional feminism too (although there was that joke about "go white saviour" lol)
I was thinking about how in Barbie, they are supposed to be marketed as feminine women who can do anything (be doctors, lawyers, presidents), but the people who work at Mattel are all men so they are the ones who profit at the end of the day. Not too far off from Blackpink tbh.
