Koreans are generally way more into JPop and JRock than they'd admit. Countless idols have already covered Lemon, Pretender and other popular Japanese songs. Most of them recognize groups like Babymetal, AKB.
Siyeon from Dreamcatcher is One Ok Rock fan, she has a wristband which she showed in Vlive long time ago and we could also see a bigass Straw Hat flag in behind Dami's bed.
There was also a video of Gackt going to Korea and literally an army of women was waiting for him in airport and even tried to touch him. The video isn't on Youtube anymore unfortunately otherwise I'd share.

Arashi also got a huge crowd in the airport when they went to Korea years ago. Japanese artists can and indeed do have fans there but one thing about random covers is they might be company mandated to try to appeal to Japanese fans particularly when they do it like in that one Youtube channel where idols go and cover multiple songs from random countries
