Is Aespa still leading the 4th Gen?

  • Le Sserafim just debuted but already broke Aespa's first-day sales, and in China Sakura's popularity seems to be much greater than all the other Aespa members. They also debuted on Melon in the top 50 and will surely rise on the charts once promotions begin so their digitals won't be bad either. They are also from HYBE so when it comes to big3 privilege they can more than keep up.

Then you have IVE who already beat Aespa on Hanteo chart (and possibly soon on Gaon too), on top of it they are killing the charts both domestically and Internationally and have It-girl Wonyoung. Ive also has strong fanbase in China and Japan.

So, my question is if you guys think Aespa is still leading the 4th gen or if people labeling them as "leaders of the 4th gen" was too pre-mature and that Aespa just got lucky because they happened to debut at a time when there was no competition.

    Approved the thread.
  • didn't tomboy have more paks than savage too? I don't think there is a 4th generation leader

  • I think aespa is still leading but IVE is way too close for them to get comfortable

Itzy is still a strong contender, too

they could pull off tomboy with their next cb

  • What is le sserafim rank in melon? How they doing on the charts? Last I saw they didn’t get in melon top 100

  • There are too many misleading info here. You should at least fact check before post. See list below.

1/You can't compare Hanteo sale in 2022 to any other years. Everybody and their mothers double their sale on Hanteo.

2/First day sale is not indicative of sale. See Kep1er and Nmixx for example, Kep1er sold more first day on hanteo than aespa but end up sold less significantly on Hanteo and Gaon. Nmixx sold 20k on first day, but end up with 400k on Haneo.

3/No. Sakura popularity is not much greater than aespa in China. Sakura sold 60k just now. Karina already sold 50k 7 months ago, how much do you think her sale for their next coming album?

    See weibo fanbase:

    NingNing - 277k

    Winter - 266k

    Sakura - 246k

    WonYoung - 243k

    Karina - 223k

4/ They did not chart on Melon.

5/ IVE already beat aespa debut album with their second album on hanteo. Yes, this is true. They might come close on Gaon. So what? Aespa second album which will come anytime now will make you guys humble and dare not to mention physical sale lol.

6/ True, IVE is strong domestically and Internationally. True, they has a strong fanbase in Japan. Not sure about China.

7/aespa up coming comeback will tell us a clearer pictures. So be patient. You will know soon.

  • didn't consider them 4th gen leaders to begin with

  • Not at all.

Look at Love Dive. Heavily out performing all of Aespas songs on Spotify and smashing them on Apple Music, just as good on YouTube. Eleven and now Love Dive doing better than Davage in Korea and they are charting way way better in Japan.

They also outsold Aespa too. How can anyone realistically say Aespa are leading? The stats say otherwise.

  • the last aespa comeback is half a year ago, to make a more accurate comparison let's wait until they comeback then you can compare it to other groups' recent comebacks. All these talk about recent releases outselling savage sales but there is no way aespa fandom haven't grow exponentally since savage lol.

  • it was an error. What I meant was that they debut at #50 on melon or around that number which is still good. Not sure how it is doing currently on the chart though.

    They didn't debut 50

It's hilarious to see people talk about outselling when everyone knows savage happened months ago.

in what parallel universe are u living in that fearless debuted at #50 on melon LMAO

  • just as with the bgs with each comeback the other group will outsell the current group.

No clear leader quute yet, which makes this more interesting tbh

I would put IVE and AESPA in the same tier currently, they are equal

ITZY and GIDLE belong in the 2nd tier

Too early to say anything about LSF charting wise but physical wise they are a competition for sure.

  • Yes, Aespa is leading. They pretty much are top one, two or 3 in every metric. Kcharts, spotify, youtube, album sales etc.

But then you factor in the insane amount of awards they snagged in their rookie year. Rookie awards, daesangs, and more.

Noone's setting up Ive vs Blackpink for hate just yet. When they do, let's talk.

  • While watching these groups battle it out is fun I assure you aespa will win in the long run. Sm has mentioned several times aespa main goal is to become improve their album sales. If aespa comebacks with at least 1m sales and topping charts then it confirms they’re indeed the leading group. Sm girl groups have the best longevity too which people massively overlook.
