Why doesn’t 4th gen have it boys?

    3rd gen already had very popular male idols at this point in time. Yet looking at overall brand reputation for male idols, no one from 4th gen has any notable fame. The highest placing male idol from the new gen is at #41.


    This is a stark difference to the females who have multiple contenders and idols like wonyoung who can compete with and are more popular than well known it girls from previous gens. Winter, karina, Soyeon and yuna are all very trendy idols.


    There is no male idol currently who can even be put in the same conversation as the likes of eunwoo, bts maknae line, baekyun and even idols from 2nd gen. They can’t even be compared to popular male idols without the it boy tag.


    Why is this? Why don’t Koreans resonate with any newer male idols?

    They are all complete flops when it comes to GP recognition

    because no one has what it takes

    getting the label it boy/girl from knetz or from most fandoms requires having the it factor (who would have thought) & that's something you just can't force.

    There's many who could be but netizens don't seem to care about 4th gen bg now.

    It's just lack of interest the problem

    simply because the gp is ignoring bgs

    I don't think music has much to do with this. Eun woo is a top A lister but I bet not many people can name or know a single song from his group.


    A lot of nugu ggs still manage to get one very popular it girl member going. I wouldn't call nct music well liked by Koreans outside their fandoms yet jaehyun has managed to get a lot of popularity there.

    Hybe pushed Yj hard but it's not working that much. Hyunjin's scandal blew his chances because he was the one who could do it.

    bgs began losing gp relevance before 4th gen bgs even debuted, what attention is there to hold if people don't look at them in the first place? kpop might be experiencing a resurge in popularity in SK it's only for ggs


    people generally don't give new bgs chance, even though there are good ones in the sea of mediocrity, just like it is the case for ggs

    do you seriously think a song like Savage, complete with aespa's debated...ice princess style of performance would've been successful if it was released by a 4th gen bg?? (absolutely no hate to aespa, but let's be honest for a moment)
