Why the Japanese companies don't create J-pop Idol groups in the West and only create J-pop Idol groups in Asia ?

i think they are referring to groups like bkn48, mln48, etc.

large groups are uncommon in the west like your akb48s and whatnot

I don't think there's a market for it imo

Jpop isn't mainstream in the west or most of the world and even on Asia they are a niche genre, from the point of view of companies it's probably not worth the investment

also complacency, Japan is the 2nd largest music market in the world, it's half the size of the US industry despite having 1/3 of the population, on average a Japanese person spends 50% more on music than an American so you can be very successful without ever leaving the country, there is no incentive to pursue new markets
