Predicting the future of 4th gen girlgroups

    The fact that there's a new thread about leading groups and it girls every week proves that the discussion is far from settled.


    - (G)-idle will continue to do well in SK, proving that they don't need Soojin but people will continue to not care about them because they

    are not Big 3, still don't have competitive sales, and are hardly considered 4th gen by most anyway


    - IVE will continue putting out bops and doing well BOTH in Korea and internationally, making big 3 4th gen gg stans SEETHE! I can

    see them selling 500k+ by the end of 2022 and Wonyoung will be the Jennie of 4th gen. But becoming the biggest 4th gen gg seems

    difficult without Big 3 backing


    - Aespa will still do better than the rest of 4th gen ggs in Korea and China. Top 3 should be easy with their next comeback, but if their

    music continues to sound like Savage (looking at the numbers other groups are doing now, this hardly crossed 400k ULs and is a moderate

    hit at best), they will decline. Will be selling 800K+ with their next comeback. Winter will kinda be like the Taeyeon of this gen? Known

    for vocals and visuals rather than a stylish, trendy it girl like Jennie


    - It's over for ITZY it seems. No one cares about them anymore sadly. They will stagnate around 500-600K sales, lose momentum on

    on Spotify, and continue to hardly scrape lower 50 of Melon. I say this as someone who actually likes them the best out of the 4th gen

    ggs, but JYP's choices with their music and debuting NMIXX just tells me they are done with them


    - Leeserafilm will be the biggest 4th gen gg internationally. Korea will be a dark horse - clearly the HYBE label does nothing for TXT there.

    Will easily do 500-600K with their debut album with the HYBE stans overcompensating to prove HYBE's superiority over Big 3 (trust me

    they know what they are doing and BTS will not so much as release a mixtape until those girls have debuted). The real question is Japan,

    since we have yet to have a big 4th gen gg over there. HYBE clearly knows the value of the Japanese market and with Sakura...yeah,

    I think they have the chance to become very big there


    - NMixx will get their hit soon enough and become JYP's shiny new toy. I think frankly they are too talented not to be successful, JYP needs

    to give them real music. I know people are kinda suspicious about their sales, but accusations aside, 600K+ seems doable for their next

    release


    - YG is not debuting a new girlgroup let us be real. With their schedule, it will be 2026 by the time they release the first member

    I think Ador will top all ggs once they debut, dominating along IVE and aespa. My top3 prediction.

    About aespa. They have the potential to become one the biggest groups out there only depends on the music and they being under sm and knowing their concept, I'm pretty sure they will keep their experimental music and that's okay, I prefer interesting concepts and music than generic ones only to be more popular. It's one of the few things I like about sm, they have no problem to create a massive group but they prefer to do their own thing. Aespa is kinda nct but the friendly version.


    My prediction about aespa is they will be big, top 5 groups but not the top group, they will be niche because of their music and concept and they will have a very dedicated fandom. Karina is only a rookie and she has already a solid fandom.


    Internationally wise it'll be between ygngg and lesserafim dominating.

    I don't think sm goal with aespa was to create the top group, they just wanted to experiment with avatars and introduce smcu stuff with them. It's surprising they are doing that well considering their concept when they debuted everyone thought they would flop hard

    Watch Itzy have their best year period this year with all the doom and gloom on them

    -aespa will comfortably the biggest in Korea still because koreans likes SM ggs type of music. Internationally will be a challenge tho unless SM hire BadBoy's and Psycho's Producer to breakthrough it.

    - ive will be the ' next level sistar' of this gen. Catchy music and upgraded album sales + ace Wonyoung

    -G(i)dle will be making hit and miss music. Their digital popularity was a fluke and will be depending much on their songs. Just like 4Minute

    -itzy will continue to tanked on korea charts unless JYP cleared lia bullying accusation because Korea takes bullying seriously and they'll never let it go.

    -Lesserafim same case with itzy, won't do well in Korea because of bully member but will making Banks in international market thanks to Sakura and co

    -Nmixx will be doing better than their debut. All they need is catchy music. However they need to wary of becoming MissA 2.0 because only Sullyoon catching K-netz attention so far.

    It's probably better for your mental health that you just accept they have peaked. They aren't catching the rest of the aforementioned groups, except maybe Gidle if they release a flop song. They now have to split attention with NMixx from within the company and company stans, and no way JYP will let NMixx flop. Every other group will have the benefit of company stans and the sole undivided attention from their production teams.

    The same trolls and haters are propping up and setting up IVE, posing as IVE stans, to use IVE for the same bashing they've been doing for months before IVE, which is bash Aespa, ITZY and Blackpink.

    Just because they cant bash those groups with their own bias groups.

    The ones in main who're oh so supportive of IVE now, many of them are the same ones who have been bashing other girl groups - Aespa, ITZY, Blackpink, you name it - long before IVE debuted. Even have a proven bashing record for anyone to see who checks their threads and posts from before.

    Yg is doing a good job by not debuting a new gg. It won't do well while BP is still here by 2024 if they decide to part ways the hype for ygngg will be huge.

    I think these predictions were actually pretty accurate


    Itzy one was a little too pessimistic though and you’re forgetting that Hybe will be debuting multiple girl groups with a closer connection to BTS and Bighit than Lesserfim
