Gaon monthly is today any predictions?

  • No Gaon numbers arent added, they represent all shipments.

So Oricon, Billboard, Hanteo etc are all included in the Gaon number, or at least how much is shipped out as of now.

Btw Gaon is already out, you can check how much they sold right now.

Thanks, so I checked and it looks like FMR sold 346,526 on gaon. I'm confused because their preorders were a lot higher and it was reported that their hanteo sales were a lot higher as well. Do you know if this number is only for a certain period of time?

    So let's clarify this....

Billboard count Album Equivalents for their Digital Songs so it is impossible for GAON to count them for a Physical Chart.

Oricon Charts only count Sales in Japan, they also have their own Distributors that aren't registered to GAON so thier Charts will not include GAON Sales BUT there are Retailers that are registered to HANTEO whom aren't limited to the Oricon Charts' calculations.

HANTEO are Sales from registered Retailers, these are global so they include Album Sales that aren't from Distributers registered to GAON.

HANTEO are sales to Consumers while GAON are Sales from registered GAON Distributors to Retailers.

The best example of HANTEO and GAON Sales is with NMIXX....

For their first week NMIXX had around 225k HANTEO Sales however their first month on GAON was 160k. The difference is NMIXX's Pre-Order Special which was 60k+ that weren't reported to GAON because it was likely distributed by JYPE. Those sales were reported for HANTEO though.

So the GAON sales are from GAON registered Distributors that have shipped them to Retailers that are buying Albums for Pre-Orders and for their own Stock.

  • Immediately this is garbage because it would mean that NiziU's Album Sales would be on the GAON Charts.

NiziU aren't k-pop. Neither are Twice Japan or whatever. But if a copy of Formula of Love gets ordered by a Japanese retailer it absolutely does count on Gaon. Why would it not.
