Is releasing less hits better than releasing one flop?

My faves can't relate, so I dunno

Yes, but being able to predict which songs the public will love is the most important skill for a producer.

I prefer bp's 2020 route. They prove they can release more songs and maintain quality

a flawless discography with fewer songs is better than releasing a ton of songs and having some be "flops"
maybe not as few as blackpink though, they're a special case because any other group would've straight flopped with the long ass hiatuses they've had through the years
Somi has even less music than BP, but people are still following her.

He is correct when it comes building longevity as a brand. That's the method Western artists use as well. Personally, and for many fans, I would rather have more music, since that's what I care about, but in the end, it doesn't matter because labels are always going to do what's best for them, not the consumers.

I think the only hits that are predictable are the ones written by a formula, other ones (and sometimes bigger hits) are unpredictable for putting something new or brave to the table. Even the best of the best can't predict everything, and there is a line where one is just overthinking it.
