Twice is not big international
-
I’m not sure abt red velvet or aespa, in general quirky weird sm sound is the least successful from big 3 internationally rn. That will hinder them
And Itzy it’s been 3 years if it hasn’t happened it just won’t happen.
I’ve I want to see their next comeback, if starship can keep them relevant then I’ll place my bets in them considering the amount of promo they’ve gotten monsta x
Ygngg, they will be big in sea certainly especially being bp little sisters, but pretty much every group after 2ne1 in yg suffers from the hiatus so much, only bp hasn’t rlly (and even then they could have been bigger) with the amount of competition ygngg face I want to see if they’ll debut with a huge hit and be able to keep coming back with big songs like bp.
Hybe gg will do good, hybe shows they are good internationally with txt enhypen and obviously bts… but hybe never had gg besides glam and all of a sudden want to debut 3 gg in a year…

Twice is not big international
Twice is big internationally. Not as big as bts or even bp but way ahead of the rest of the groups
They are huge in Japan and their fame in sea and the ‘west’ (lmao) as increased so much over the last year or so.
Before anybody asks about bts or bp, can 4th gen groups even match twice?

The only song of twice that did well international was feels. Twice songs don't do very different from itzy songs.

twice is a common word used in the dailylife which isn't the most appropriate use of a name.
bts means behind the scenes and if bts didn't grow to be huge, that word would be associated only with that acronym
-
Not even a twice fans but I do not get people’s bitterness and ignorance with twice. Twice may not be as big as BTS and BP but they are certainly ahead of other kpop acts.
I do not see any other groups being truly global currently. Maybe someone will step up with time or years to come. Even big groups struggle to attract non-fans listen to their music.
No one has produced a global hit other than aforementioned groups. There seems no big traction in terms of casual listeners (huge following or consumption in terms of global streams, views, etc.) from the currently active acts.

IVE duh. Internationally they have the biggest song rn sitting at the same table as BP, Twice and BTS songs, and if Starship promo them like they promoted Monsta X in the west they will do really well. But they should establish themselves in SK first.
G idle have big chances too, their music appeal to western fans and they are cool.

Stray Kids, but jyp act like they don't exist so not really sure

this thread is a poor attempt at creating a narrative that twice is in the same lane as bts and bp
twice are as far away from bp as bp are from bts (twice are probably closer than these 2), yet bp and bts are always put together, but twice can't? look at the streams/views/.. in 2022, bts is doing 1 BILLION+ streams and views while bp & twice are pretty close for both so this whole "twice shouldn't be put in the same sentence" is such nonsense.
bp is a lot bigger than twice, but bts is a LOT bigger than bp too?

TWICE needed 3 albums and a tour since oct. 2020 to be competitive with BP (and only on spotify). Their numbers are still heavily dependant in Japan + the rest of asia. The sole reason they charted on the hot100 were remixes, they were non existent on spotify US top 200. People claiming they are breaking into the west are deluding themselves, so yeah it is wrong putting them together with BTS or BP.

Those remixes barely made a dent in how many streams The Feels got. If Twice shouldn't be included, BP shouldn't either. There is a huge gap between BP and BTS.

i think many of you don't realise how big the gap between bp and bts is either...
almost every measurement, except maybe for yt, shows that bp is closer to other kpop groups than to bts (overall spotify numbers, concert audiences, album sales,..) so just bc they are a clear #2 after bts, doesn't mean they are close at all. so if you like to put them together with bts, when bp are NOWHERE near competition for them (except maybe for yt), than putting them along with twice shouldn't be ridiculed..
i know many share your view, but i'll never understand the different stance.

BP is closer to bts in spotify than the rest of groups, bp is pulling 400-500M of streams for their title tracks which are the ones determining group popularity since bsides streams are about how bigger the fandom is. Twice is only pulling 200M for a few songs and they are 3rd biggest group internationally. BTS only has dynamite, the rest of songs are closer to bp numbers

I never claimed BP were on the same lvl as BTS either but they can actually be called big internationally because they do well in all continents

Technically didnt that already happened with It G Ma? This song wasnt huge like Gangnam Style/HYLT/Dynamite but I think it was one of the most successful korean songs internationally

dynamite is at 1.3 BILLION while butter & bwl are all around 800m... spotify numbers are also more than just tt streams? bts has overall 24 BILLION streams vs 6 billion (bp) vs 4 billion (twice). bts pulls 1 MILLION viewers in online concerts vs 300k (bp) vs 100k (twice). stadium tours vs arena's/domes. best selling album: bts 4m+ vs. bp 1m+ vs twice 800k+ and i can go on and on about the gap between these two groups.
i don't mean to minimalise what bp has done, bc they have done huge numbers (certainly for gg), but don't act too weirded out when it's pointed out that bp's numbers are closer to other kpop groups than bts'... bts are an anomaly, even outside of kpop. it doesn't diminish any of bp's achievements acknowledging this.
so yes, twice can be included when talking about international succes.

Sure, it probably got more people interested in Korean entertainment, but it wasn't consistent like with BTS and BP. Besides, it mostly appealed to a very niche section of hip-hop enthusiasts. Definitely nowhere near the level that we generally think of when we talk about western success.
-
no, i actually agree.
was gonna say that it probably won't be a k act at all, but with the way k culture is still booming worldwide,
wouldn't be surpised if the next big thing is a k rnb act.
not sure about k hiphop tho... the west tends to not take asian/ non black rappers too serious i think?
but you never know ofc. just a catchy, good (tiktok) hit is all you probably need

Because it's a lie, bp spotify numbers are closer to bts than the rest of groups when you compare their title tracks. BTS has the biggest fandom, nobody is questioning that, obs BTS will sell more and they will hold bigger concerts. BP has 20s songs lmao don't expect the total streams will match with bts but when you compare the streams per song, bp streams are closer to bts than twice. Popularity isn't only the size of your fandom but also casual fans.
The album (bp):
-Max streams: 593M
-Min streams: 96M
The feels (twice)
-Max streams: 165M
-Min streams: 5M
So you tell me how twice and bp streams numbers are any close
-
It’s the bp down play in anon for me.
We all know bts is far ahead of other kpop groups and bp, but bp is to ahead of other kpop groups to just not to the extent of bts
Furthermore we all know they are grouped with bts bc they are 1.biggest gg 2. Actually way ahead of other groups besides bts internationally
So stop being dense
Using total sales as if bp doesn’t have only 3 albums, total Spotify streams as if bp doesn’t have only 23 damn songs
Idk why army act like bp being in the same sentence as bts is a crime. Like they are literally the biggest bg and gg and biggest bg and gg always grouped together since 1st gen. Where was this energy when bts and twice where mentioned together as the biggest bg and gg?!? Bp literally represent kpop gg like at this point y’all just gonna have to deal with it.

no, it's the BP up-play again by some Blinks to be honest.

You're really comparing a single to an entire album. Tragic.

I'm comparing the maxium and minium streams of last bp and twice albums and the result is the numbers aren't close and bp is still miles ahead of any other group internationally except bts. I can do bts if you want too:
BE (bts):
-Title track: 463M
-Min streams: 34M
