Could 2NE1’s “I am the Best” have had a Gangnam Style moment?

I don't think so. I think the main reason that Gangnam Style went viral was the dance.

It got meme-d everywhere. People were doing it that didn't even know what K-pop was, who Psy was, probably didn't even know where South Korea is on a map.

I don't recall an equally meme-able choreo or anything as memorable in I Am The Best.

No way. The entire secret behind gangnam style’s success is the fact that it doesn’t take itself seriously at all. The catchiness was only an added aid to its going viral. I am the best is the opposite in the sense that it’s 100% serious in its video and lyrics lol ain’t no way that’s gonna go viral the way gs did. The catchiness is irrelevant

GS was a meme song. Dance and music video werent meant to be taken seriously unlike I'm the best. And even if 2ne1/yg went for that approach it guarantees nothing, gangnam style was a once in a lifetime phenomenon
