Which is the biggest 4th gen group in Japan?

  • Japan is one very big market. If you manage to build a good fanbase there and grow to he successful, you could rely on the Japanese market alone.

Which do you think is the biggest 4th gen group there?

Personally I believe it's enhypen. Due to a thread in the main forum I found out they have the longest charting song by 4th gen group and highest selling album. So they have both the digitals and physicals there? That must put them way ahead the others

    What do you think?

    Approved the thread.
  • It’s not enhypen they only chart #1 bc of their fandom, they fall off the charts after

It’s Itzy or Kep1er atm, Itzy has the best charting out of all 4th gen groups but seem to have kinda fell off after mitm

Kep1er debut did very well in Japan charting wise

Even maybe aespa, savage still in bb hot 100. But I have no hope bc sm isn’t good in Japan anymore (weird considering they had boa, tvxq and snsd)

  • I think its enhypen. There was a lot of hype about Niki a Japanese debuting under hybe.

  • I don't think it's the fandom though because I checked which groups were competing against enhypen last time and it turned out to be some really big and famous artists that enhypen's fandom wouldn't stand a chance against. I think the gp likes them too because they chart on multiple charts quite well and they're stable

  • ITZY. Almost all (If not all) their title tracks are certified on Japan.

  • In Japan unlike in Korea, Album sales are more important and use to measure fame. So yes, it’s Enhypen. No doubt about it. In 2021 alone,it earned 13 Million dollars . If u look at digitals, they also have the longest charting song in Line Music among 4th gen , 2nd accross all kpop generations just next to BTS, PTD.

Aespa is not that famous in Japan even BP is not that popular. For boygroups,it’s always Hybe groups no one comes closer( BTS, SVT, EN, TxT in that order) while for GG it’s JYP- Twice & Itzy. Then maybe Kepler but it’sa temporary grp that will disband after 2yrs so i wont even count them.

  • U do know that in Japan, physical sales is more important not the digital sales. They love buying albums. Aespa is never famous in Japan. It’s Itzy for 4th gen and Twice for GG overall. For boygroups- it has always been Hybe groups.

Physical sale is important but it’s already 5 times bigger for bg AND physical market is decreasing in Japan and more people are streaming

Bb hot 100 shows the songs that ppl are listening too, biggest hits in Japan are huge there.

Enhypen, txt and skz are not as popular as you guys say, their songs barely chart for even a month. Even seventeen recent comeback didn’t chart more than a month

While aespa and Kep1er recent comeback charted wayy longer. Bp recent comebacks did wayy better than any of those bgs

  • It’s decreasing but it’s still the biggest market. Also, if u buy albums those are also willing to buy concert tickets for u. For 2021, top kpop group earners from Japan is the hybe groups, BTS, SVT , ENHYPEN and TxT, they are way above their competitors. All of their album sales are growing and earning more . Enhypen alone in Japan earned 13million dollars ( Physical & Digital Sales) in 2021.

Charting way longer doesnt mean anything at all esp if it’s lower bottom of the chart. Relevance means dollar money earned from ur albums.

  • But the boy groups you mentioned have highest entries on the japan billboard charts among any 4th gen group? If I am not mistaken enhypen holds the records of highest peaks, correct me if I'm wrong.

And if aespa, kep1er and itzy have managed to chart high then that's awesome! But if they're in the lowest ranks then I think it doesn't matter so much

  • Aespa is more popular than Itzy in Japan now, people need to stop living in the past

all the latest release from Itzy are flopping in japan now, even their japanese debut flopped, they are out of Billboard HOT 100 when Aespa is still charting here without a japanese debut

Aespa have 3 songs still charting on spotify japan (DCT,Savage,NExt level) and Itzy none

Same for Youtube, DCT and Savage is still trending on Youtube in Japan, while even Loco is out of Youtube japan

People who are still saying that Aespa isn't popular in japan are lying to themselves, especially when they say Itzy are when the last song from Itzy successfull in japan was release 2 years ago

and for Kep1er it's too early to know if their success is just because of the GP999 hype or they might become really successfull on the long term

  • how much they have earned in Japan? If they did not release it’s probably not material enough

  • where is aespa’s certifications? where is oricon saying they earned well due to digitals of their songs? why did they not win best new artist in japanese award shows if their songs did so well there?

    or

are we pretending that aespa songs did good just to make you feel better? 😂

  • Aespa is nowhere to be seen in spotify top 50 though. i only see bunch of bts songs, the feels, wadada and eleven. You better fact check.

Same for Youtube, DCT and Savage is still trending on Youtube in Japan,

Itzy has RIAJ certifications sis. Aespa has no certifications. Where are they on YT Japan trending? I am using Japan YT channel. They are not in trending list. hmmmm

    maybe not top 50

but Savage is still #93 in spotify japan

    DCT is #181

and Next level is still #193 on spotify japan

meanwhile there's still no Itzy song even charting in the top 200 of spotify Japan

Savage is still #43 on youtube weekly chart in japan, DCT #86 and still no itzy songs

RIAJ cerfification ? sis all these certifications are from songs release 2 years ago or even more older, i'm not denying that itzy had a good prime in Japan 3 years ago but some of you still acting like they are popular in Japan nowadays is embarassing

their last songs bombed in japan, they completely flop, stop acting like they are still popular in japan when Aespa have been doing much better in japan lately than itzy in every metrics

+ Itzy receive their certifications years after the songs release but you are here acting like aespa should get a certification in one week

EMBARASSING, stop living in the past of itzy success we are talking about the present, and in the present Itzy isn't doing better than aespa in japan, it's a fact and stats proves it

  • Itzy had a good 2019-2020 run in Japan i don't deny this

but it's stupid to say Itzy is more popular than Aespa in Japan these days, when Aespa is surpassing Itzy in Japan this year in all metrics. You all need to stop making your opinion on your bias and see the stats.

Aespa is factually more popular than Itzy in japan nowadays

  • + even Savage the EP (#60) is doing better than Crazy in Love ( out of the chart) & Itzy japanese debut (#179) on apple music japan
