By the end of 2022 will 4th gen will have a clear #1 gg and bg?

  • Can we just let things evolve spontaneously please

  • For girlgroups I don't think so cause many new girlgroups are debuting. In 2023 we'll be sure.

For boygroups it will probably be between stray kids, enhypen and txt and one will lead in most metrics but not with everything. There won't be a clear leader like in 3rd gen unless another group debuts but I think it's too late now for a small company to debut a group that will surpass the others. That's gonna take time. Trainee a has a chance too but they would have to do really well from the beginning and I doubt it but it's possible.

  • It's discussed everyday here.

  • Aespa is the clear leader as far as I know.

Not sure about 4th gen bg since they need to at least catch up to nct and Seventeen sales first.

  • Maybe for girl groups in the future if Twice and BP magically disappear, but for boy groups; the third generation top boy groups seem like they have no intentions on slowing down for their juniors. BTS, undisputed top of the top— suppose even if they stagnant, it would still be huge because they simply have a mammoth fanbase. Seventeen and NCT units show no signs of stagnant, only continuous growth both in sales and digitals. EXO, despite their once in a blue moon comebacks and appearances, their sales and chart performance showcase that they will always be relevant for as long they exist. The 4th generation is growing, but 3rd generation is getting even bigger, these BGs have no chill.

  • #1 Girlgroup is Aespa for sure

for BG it's harder because when you think TXT is leading, enhypen comeback catch them up, then SKZ comeback and surpass their sales, and then you have the Boyz who beat them in digital in korea

there's no BG who have strong physicals and strong digital and won lots of awards to be declare as the #1 BG like aespa did

  • One of the boy groups has to have a GP hit first to go with the impressive physical sales.

As someone already mentioned - they have not surpassed NCT who are still growing and NCT dream in particular won't be enlisting for 7 more years.

I don't know what have the 3rd gen bgs have to do with the leading groups of the 4th generation...are bts not considered the leaders of the 3rd gen just because bigbang is still leading the second one? (just an example)

My bad. I misunderstood the thread. I thought they were meaning to say that will they be top groups overall in general, I didn’t realize they were strictly pertaining 4th Gen itself.

  • Also when can we finally stop with all this 4th gen nonsense. I think its ok to talk about the current top groups. IVE and aespa dont need a 4th gen qualifier when talking about their achievements. This seems to be a pathetic hold over from 4th gen boy group stans who's faves can't chart and have nothing to brag about
