    After watching GOT the Beat's MCountdown live, I though it sounded different from the digital version and when Taeyeon hit her high notes climax and her voice kinda broke, I thought "Wow as expected from talented member performing live"


    But after listening to it two~three times, it was obvious to me that it was clearly lipsyncㅋㅋㅋㅋ


    No but if they're going to do this, just play the digital version that sounds cleaner and let us focus on their outfit instead?

    It's not necessary to sing live on TV. Literally no one fucking cares except pressed losers.


    My local news played a clip from this performance to promote the Janet Jackson documentary. Not a single goddamn microphone in sight and to this day no one says "but she's not singing live!"

    A performance on TV is mainly about the performance and how it looks on TV. If you want to hear their live vocals then buy the concert tickets, otherwise shut up.

    I pray for the day SM quit this AR trend in music shows because it's not working as they think it does. I doubt anyone is fooled, not even the ones that praise the "live vocals" really believe it. Either lip-sync to the studio ver sometimes like old days and make few real lives the other times or use backtrack. I am okay with lip-syncing occasionally but AR has some lackluster feel to it especially with aespa they use the exact same audio every time. It's so obvious especially with them and they don't even try to make it look real so what's the point? It's doing nothing but bad press. Just look at the stupid comments thinking these girls "CAN'T" sing live! Imagine thinking Taeyeon, Wendy, or BoA can't sing live (all the girls in the group can sing but TY and Wendy outsing most of the industry).

    It's a shame that currently I only enjoy artists' concert live stages because they're real live vocals (that are mostly leaked because I can't afford to buy all of them). Music shows are only good as dance videos and not just SM but SM is consistent with the audio.

    Like has been said in recent years, live singing is extinct in kpop. Singing talent is basically an added bonus for idols these days.


    I saw the GOT stage and I thought they sounded pretty good till I realised their lips didn't fully match the words. It's sad how you got Taeyeon and Wendy, 2 idols that can outsing entire groups on their own and even they're syncing. It's mega disappointing knowing this is probably one of the only times we may ever see them together and thus may never get a live version

    The thing that I find most annoying about the whole repeating discussion about this, is the double standards and hypocrisy.


    From what I understand over 90-95% of all the performances in music shows is lipsynced or the audio replaced by other audio recordings for the broadcast, incl of the groups of all the top companies - yet somehow it's always SM groups getting shaded and bashed for it, while all the times that it occurs with other groups of the other companies it gets conveniently ignored, as if SM groups are the only ones using lipsync.


    It kinda reminds me of the discussion about paid ads, that suddenly becomes an issue when Aespa has it on their MV's - but got completely ignored when other companies were using it way before SM did or when other Big 3 girl groups had significant ad views.


    Or when certain idols get accused of PS, once again SM girl idols, but as soon as the accusers' own bias groups get questioned and accused of PS, suddenly those accusers defend with the reaction that their own biases are 'all natural'. Yeah, sure Janet :suure:


    It's the double standards that makes me think that most of those cases are often nothing but some people, antis and other-group stans, trying to push a slander/hate/shade narrative.

    Just like how antis and other-company stans and other-group stans tried to sell that SNSD and Super Junior couldn't sing and managed to convince many naive, gullible ifans of this. It was completely false and fake news, yet still they managed to push that fake news narrative.

    I wouldn't bash an idol for lipsyncing. They all do sometimes. I do prefer watching tv performances when I can at least hear some of their vocals live over the backtrack though. It's more enjoyable for me. *shrug*

    Oh, how do you know this? I heard that some shows are more likely to have one or the other, but I didn't know live performances ONLY happened on Music Bank (occasionally anyway).

    fr, i really wish people would stop being so uptight about lip syncing (and i get it, i used to have that mindset too when i was a teenager, but drag performances made me realize LS was a craft in it's own right) so we can get rid of the ugly ass headsets in lip synced performances without people complaining.


    this performance will always be iconic and it was 100% lip synced.

    Yeah, if people are gonna lipsync, commit to it. I can't stand seeing idols fighting to keep their headset in place when they aren't singing anyway. I do still want to see some live performances tho.

    apparently during almost every rehearsal, one of them would drop their fan. i can't imagine how much pressure they were under at that moment.
