I never hear about them anymore. Were they more popular before?
Is monsta x declining?

-
-
Were they even successful in the first place?
-
They're not declining
-
Their sales are actually still rising
-
Not really. They got better sales and stuff.
-
-
-
Not really, they're just not talked about much in the K-Pop community (in my opinion).
All I know, MONSTA X releases the superior English tracks and albums than the rest.

Also one thing has to be noted:
akp ≠ well, the entirety of kpop listeners/fans. Just because there isn't a lot of talk of Monsta X on here or many fans on here doesn't mean no one is talking about them else where. Monbebes are probably more active on other spaces.
^^This should be an obvious statement, but if you spend a lot of time engaging in kpop on here, I think it can create that impression.

Their latest Korean cb, No Limit, gave them their highest first day sales ever and entered Hanteo at number one. It was also their first album to chart on all the Korean charts. The tt, Rush Hour, got them 5 music show wins which is the most they've won for a cb.
Their English album, The Dreaming, reached number 3 on Billboard's Top Album chart and number 21 on BB Hot 200. That makes them tied for 4th place among Korean acts with the most billboard placements.
They're not the most successful group and they don't get talked about here much, but they aren't declining at all.

Yeah, akp posters seem to be focused on a fairly small group of artists. I've noticed fans of other groups come and go, pbly because their faves rarely get talked about and if they do get mentioned, it's usually in a negative context, like concern trolling or just wondering when they'll break up. I noticed it a lot with Got7 and they were a big group. Fans of some fairly large groups don't even have badges. It can make you feel like akp isn't the place for you and they go elsewhere to talk about their faves.

Oh for sure.
I think when you try to talk about groups or artists that not as many users follow, and you don't get much engagement, that is kind of discouraging. You can't force people to be interested of course, but it is unfortunate. I'd talk more about ONF and other groups if there were more people interested them but it is what it is.

People just don’t talk about them here and they still beat their own records. Also take a listen to the dreaming juseyo it is really good.

Exactly, and yes,, it is unfortunate because it does end up self-perpetuating and just spiraling down. It's one of the reasons that I try to make a lot of threads that are more general than fandom specific. I'd like to see a larger variety of groups get talked about and engage more people. If I really want to fan over MX though, I look elsewhere.

I don't think so. Maybe that is the assumption because they aren't generally "teen bop hype-blasted". I noticed they are one of a few K-Pop guy groups to land on the Billboard Pop Airplay Chart meaning overseas radio stations have actually played their music on air. The majority of the K-groups, I've seen, that have touched the chart aren't declining.

theyre pretty established and still rising steadily, which is not an easy feat for a group turning 7
