Any Cat Experts?!

  • You're making the association of cat moms proud. :pepelove1:

desperate cat mom to fix cat baby...cat mom going through turmoil watching baby be sick ahhhhh lol

if this works it will save me a trip to the vet and spending money but so far looks like i'm still taking him i don't know how much to give him so i just did two droppers full

and i mixed the oil with the water just to kill 2 birds with one stone lol

  • So my vet is a dick and i ended up taking Sammi to an emergency hospital, they think he has an inflammation in his intenstines they gave him anti-nausea, fluids and gave me some liquid medication to help him. they said he should start feeling better within 24 hours. i'm hoping that's all it is.

I'm glad that you were able to get seen, even if you ended up having to go to the emergency hospital. I know that had to be expensive :( I hope that kitty feels better soon.

it cost me about $277. not as bad as i thought it would be, he seems much better but he still seems to be struggling to potty, i'm not sure if that's 'cause of the medication or if he's still not better or what so i'm just keeping an eye on him.

  • Oh, I'm sorry I missed this. He's a handsome boy! I had a situation like this with one of my cats except he was also projectile vomiting bright green bile. He felt miserable and lethargic and cried. The fantastic emergency vets explained that it can become a cycle - like people, right? Your stomach is so upset that when you eat anything you get sick but then you're not getting any nutrients in, so your stomach is upset. They gave me anti nausea meds and an appetite stimulant as well as showing me how to inject saline into his shoulders/back of his neck. He was feeling better within a day or two although it still took him a bit of time to fully recover to maximum strength. I only had to give injections for two or so days.

One thing I'd suggest here: To get him eating again, they recommended turkey or chicken baby food (but make sure there are no onions in the ingredients because that's toxic for cats). Let me tell you, I opened that lid and dude was on it like crack, even if at first he only ate a little bit. 8o

What kind of food is he eating? Wet, dry or a combo?

I hope your little guy does well.

  • well the vet said it's a possible infection in his intestines, it's just weird how it suddenly happened. one moment he's fine the next he's not. his normal food is a blue bag called Authority kitten dry food. However, the vet gave me free cans of wet food and told me to give him a little bit after 6 hours of him coming home which i did. he ate a little, but not much of it. He's not as bad as last night but twice he tried to potty and nothing came out so hopefully that's just part of it. He's not crying in pain o rolling around like he's in pain, and he's not throwing up everywhere anymore.

I was given some metronidazole medication to give him ever 12 hours which is to help with the infection. they gave him fluids and anti-nausea medicine at the vet. he's been sleeping most the day and did come up to me for pets and loves and was purring a bit but he's not playing or running around like he usually does. he's about 7 or 8 months old.

Ah I'm sorry to hear that. It's so hard with our pets because they can't tell us what is wrong. I hope he feels better soon.

One thing I'd note - you may to want to add a little wet food to his diet moving forward to be a little easier on his intestines while he's recovering.

  • Awwww, he's beautiful. Maybe with the medication, the swelling in his intestines has gone down enough that even though he's still constipated, it's not causing him a lot of pain. Hopefully, his bowels will start functioning normally soon.

i hope so the medicine is for the next 5 days every 12 hours. I just hate seeing him in pain or suffering or even struggling. my poor baby v.v i just adopted him about a month ago

  • I recommend switching to exclusively wet food as dry can cause things like urine crystals and other painful issues + it's a lot easier to digest. I wish you the best of luck with your little kitten! :pleading:

it's so hard to determine what's best to get wet food is pricey and messy and a pain and dry food is easier but if he ends up having issues i may have to switch though he was fine since the time i adopted him so weird how this just came about. and he still goes into the litter box as if eh has to potty but nothing comes out. I really hope that goes away soon and either something comes out or he starts to feel better. but the vet said that an infection could cause him to think he has to go when he doesn't.
