Why are tattoos, piercings, and unnaturally-dyed hair considered unprofessional?

Yes....
Companies aint gonna sacrifice potential business/customers because of how you like to express yourselves. Personally wouldnโt care but thatโs reality.
Also, most people donโt care for tattoos unless itโs in unusual places like hands, face and neck.
Edit: or eyes or like you know those literally blacked out people....

It is only considered "unprofessional" in conservative countries. I think it depends on the culture coz others think it's a form of arts while others disagree that it looks "dirty"

-
Because itโs associated with delinquents and not โeducatedโ or โculturedโ society.
Anyway things have changed now. Those are by gone days in a lot of industries. I work for a tech company. And here you have ppl with piercings and tattoos riding a skateboard to work and they prolly earn more than 99% of the country. Lol.

Personally no. I had a team lead back then that sported a sleeve tattoo and a mohawk. Some of my team members also have visible tattoos and piercings. We have dozens and dozens of employees with dyed hair. Granted, the company's manpower skewed towards the younger generation and we're a satellite office and not under the direct corporate thumb which is in the US and corporate HR wouldn't meddle either.

depends on the industry. it may still be difficult for banking and finance in general but not in creative or IT. basically those who has to meet with diverse kind of people when doing business need to take better care of their appearance.
like it or not, not everyone has the same idea about tattoos and piercings as you. people that are more conservative may not feel confident trusting their money to people that has elements that they identify with less savory community, or at least less professional.

I really want to color my hair but I cannot because it is considered unprofessional.
