is anyone else in an interracial relationship where you're kinda scared to visit your partners home town/state/country?

..I want to travel to other countries one day but I'm too afraid that I'll be discriminated against by the people there (I'm also black btw)

Don't you have a friend that might want to go with you so you won't feel too lonely or too scared to go outside alone? If you're too scared of the environment, make sure to have your boyfriend always with you.

I hope everything works out for you and you have a great time in the state, as hard as it may be.

Yes my girlfriend is white living in Greece and I'm mixed (Black and Cuban). I'm more nervous about them finding out we're in a queer relationship than my race but that does worry me too

traveling is just scary, I can't be anywhere where I stand out too much

It's not a fear I have but I do remember that when my mom got engaged to my dad (she's Indian and he's a white American fyi), his parents thought she was just using him to take his money and to essentially make it easier for her to be able to live in the states. That's why she refused to marry him until she got a green card on her own.

Again, I don't have those kinds of fears. I'm American born anyways so that's an experience I won't have living in the U.S, but like... I really don't want to deal with assumptions or stereotypes like that either...

But yeah if you're boyfriend is with you most of the time while you are there, I'm sure it will be easier to deal with.

Mississippi? Why'd it have to be Mississippi?? Literally the most dog water state in the U.S, even by conservative standards. It's just bad. Never heard anything good about that State. They're among the lowest in everything nationally. You're apprehension is justified.

But still, if you really like this person for long term, there's no way around it. You'll have to meet their family eventually. Even if the State is like that, everyone's an individual. You won't know for sure until you meet them.

Just if you go, don't go by yourself. Bring a few people you trust along with you.
