These female idols had ifan controversies, but why did some receive brutal reactions?

  • From top of my head:

    Giselle - n word

    Lisa - CA

Sorn - people MISTAKENLY thought she was making a colorist meme

Wendy - black woman racial stereotype mimicry twice

Amber - commented that a black man in a video should have listened to police instructions

    Soyeon - ethnic hip

The names in bold are Big 3s at the moment of their ifan controversy. What I noticed is that the non-Big 3s usually get A LOT more vicious reactions. It’s typical for Soyeon and Sorn to get hated on Twitter even after things subsided. And Amber received death threats.

Also those who would be considered more removed from “traditional beauty” seem to get worse treatment.

  • There is a video comparing Giselle and Karina and Giselle has been dragged severely and got called a nepo idol and talentless

Wendy still get dragged till these day

CA is less harmful in kpop

The hate train toward Sorn will die in two days she ain’t that relevant

And no just because you come from the big3 doesn’t mean you have a better treatment

But The thing there is several male idols that they did worse and didn’t even apologize but no one cares :pepe-peek:

the majority of kpop fans are boy group fans so obviously if a male idol does something similar, like mouthing the n word, it wouldn’t turn into a big issue because the majority would decide to just not talk about it

  • if a person has issues with the way another person behaves whether it be racism, CA, etc etc i think they are perfectly entitled to try to cancel them or critise them it's their choice after all...personally i wouldn't do that but also vice versa people are also frer to defend someone for their actions.. that's always free choice and all that

  • Please Giselle got more backlash than the non-big3 ones you mentioned. The tweeted video calling her out got 2m views in HOURS and take a look at the thousands of qrts cursing her there besides the other hundreds of popular tweets getting another thousand of qrts bashing her. AKP literally started that new section because of the many outraged posts and threads about her. Not to mention the popular YouTube videos and 10s of articles mentioning her mouthing the N-word in a song that was played in bgm. Even now after she apologized you can still see people calling her racist in most unrelated new aespa posts and I am assuming it will stick forever. I guess your usual obsession with big3 is not making you see it.

The reaction to her was more “you fucked up” rather than “you are just a piece of #^%”

Obviously more views/RTs for her because she belongs to a popular group but compared to the outright hatred Sorn and Amber received it wasn’t as severe

  • did you know that this video was spread by the same people who dragged Karina down for her dancing skills? they changed their goal. I always thought twitter was a place for special people. :pepe-cross:
