Irene is super underrated as a dancer

when Red Velvet originally debuted there were always arguments over who was a better dancer Irene or Seulgi. But then Irene got so much more popular than the other members that I think Irene fans decided there was no point in being greedy and stopped arguing as much about the dancing in particular.

Then all these new kpop fans came in over the years who never paid that much attention to her dancing and just knew her as the it girl/main visual of 3rd gen and she became more and more reduced to a pretty face. Her singing is super underrated too, she's a very capable singer, yes she's not lead vocal material but she's a much better singer than a lot of visuals and just as good a singer as a lot of idols deemed "all-rounders."

when this came out i actually thought Irene was the main dancer! then they debuted and i thought irene and seulgi were more or less on the same level dancing-wise. Later on, I believe Seulgi got a tad better or at least she was more constant at giving great performances

Irene's def. a great dancer tho and like many of you say, she stands out more with more mature concepts

I disagree.

It's not that people think she is "just a pretty face", but that her visual is her biggest trait, while Seulgi's would be dance.

So it isn't that many see her as just that, but that that comes first as that is her most obvious characteristic.

And people rarely tend to think of secondary traits of an idol when the first one is so blatant.

When people say "sing skills" from Red Velvet what comes to their minds?Usually Wendy, but Seulgi is also a great singer herself.

It's just that people associate her more to dance as this is her biggest trait.

Same thing with Irene.
