Why are the big three debuting smaller groups?

I didn't know about this, but it does actually make a lot of sense. I'm glad things didn't work as planned in this case.
I am as well glad the original concept did not happen but I wonder how things would have went if it did. SM has some hardcore underrated lineups and past groups that they just dropped over the years. Many of which were groups that BoA trained with. Makes me wonder how many friends she saw vanish from the music scene over the years

At one point were so many large number groups that debuted like momoland, gugudan, loona, pristine, NCT, seventeen, that starship group with chengxiao, and all the produce groups. I think people just got tired of it.
Remember the time when everyone thought SM was crazy for debuting a 12 member and 9 member group?

Michelle lee hinted they didn't get to debut bc they were not fitting kpops beauty standards
