I had similar restrictions myself as a kid the only extremity is that the state is doing it not parents.

three hours a week seems extreme. something appropriate would be 1 hour maximum for a day.
it just seems weird that it's the government doing this... but if it works for them then ok.
i wonder how the game companies themselves are going to react to this. china makes up a large percentage of the income for many products/businesses.

It’s extreme, but it’s also not surprising. The Chinese government is known to impose such restrictions to change the culture and lifestyle.
To be fair, I understand it, though. I’d rather children limit their time with playing games and do something else instead. They should be going outdoors, getting exercise, getting their vitamin D, and building a healthy foundation for themselves. They’re still growing; they should maximize their potential in terms of physicality and health.
