I'm in a kpop group chat and we were having this discussion about dating. The chat is a mixture of both boys and girls and a large majority of them agreed that kpop impacted their dating life as in kpop has risen their standard in men/women when it comes to visuals and personalities, they invest so much energy into kpop that they don't even care about dating or they choose kpop over dating real people.
Do you think kpop impacts your dating life?

lmao what makes you call yourself a hoe
Well I was joking about the hoe part but I only ever casually date, I don’t care about long lasting serious relationships and listening to kpop doesn’t have any effect on that

Casual dating is when you date someone for the sole purpose of…uh…baking cookies together

Not at all. I was with my partner for ten years before I even got into K pop and it makes no difference to my relationship.
ohh interesting, does your partner listen to kpop too?

No, I’ve given him a sample of songs but he’s not that interested.

Nah I’m too ugly for that ish. Kpop didn’t affect it any other way.My faves did raise my expectations of men. they also inspire me to become a well rounded good human being lol. So that’s a benefit I guess

Not at all. I am living my life normally, Kpop fan or not.

I have a friend who has high standards when it comes to physical appearance and personality in men and the standard is that they have to have the visuals of an old rock musician from 70s-90s... or preferably be a rock musician from the 70s-90s but she too young for that lol
For kpop, definitely!! I have a friend who is quite aware of this and knows that kpop has risen her standards in men but for a physical appearance (jimin being the standard lol). She doesn't look at personality since this is an entertainment industry. You're expected to have a proper attitude (or to put it in a harsh way, be one-dimensional). That doesn't mean all idols are hiding their real self it's just that they can't always show it cuz being an idol is a job first and foremost.
I have my fair share of having this type of standard sometimes when I look at appearance and personality but I think it mostly impacts the way I behave you kno...
