For me it’s more annoying riaa wants money for just updating certifications. It’ll be different if the artiste requests for a plaque but why do they have to pay for the plaques by force

Are you sure the audits are that expensive?? I mean we even have Twitter accounts that can actually calculate riaa units. I doubt it’s that difficult to do. Also other countries update it for free. It will be a different case if every country was making artistes pay for the certifications but that’s not so. I still think the payment is largely because of the plaque not necessarily because of the audits

Certifications are actually pretty cheap but stop it should be automatic like most countries... RIAA should strike up a deal with the labels.

Its not about calculation only, its about verifying the underlying numbers. Nielsen for example doesnt give out data for free. And even if someone simply validates the data for certification in a couple of hours, it already probably costs at least 350$ in labour expenses, taxes etc.
Other countries organizations are probably financing this at the expense of something else.
And to be honest, I think some of these "eligible for" numbers probably arent accurate, not BTS specifically, but in general.

These numbers probably hurt someone's feelings, we should really stop posting them, but its a hard habit to break
