My mother and grandmother would swear by chicken soup when I was a kid, it helps soothe a sore throat.
Also, honey and lemon drinks.

My nonna used to make me "minestrina" (basically chicken or vegetable broth with small pasta) and milk with honey when I was sick (I miss her so much )

Because of my great grandmas my mom would make a hot toddy to get rid of the flu.
A hot toddy is Whiskey, lots of water to water it down, honey and lemon juice.
Underage can drink some booze only when they got a flu~

My parents used to make plain congee when I was sick. You can add chicken or fish if want to include meat.

It's very simple in my country :
On its own or mixed with Apple cider vinegar/ lemon.

soup,ginger or chamomile tea, and vaporux my grandma used to make eat a bit said that it would make my throat better
