I feel like having a preference is okay, as long as the preference isn't for a creepy reason. Like, just like some people prefer blondes or whatever, I think you can like a particular "look". Just don't like someone solely because they're that ethnicity and don't fetishize them. Also, preferences should be preferences. Someone who likes blondes probably isn't going to turn down a date with an awesome and gorgeous brunette just cuz they're not blonde. Judge everyone individually. Don't exclude whole races of people and then claim it's just a "preference". Usually there's something else going on there...

If it comes from a place of self-hate, it's a problem. Other than that, preferences are preferences, but people need to be honest with themselves and their intentions. Are they fetishizing or are they simply having preferences?
Just how I see it: Men fetishizing women of a race tends to be more harmful than women fetishizing men of a race.
There's often a power dynamic in play when it comes to men fetishizing women of a certain race, often thinking he's superior to her, her race, her culture, and the people of her culture. That's a huge no. You can't disrespect a culture and its people while simultaneously fetishizing the women for your own fragile ego.
Women fetishizing white men for "upward mobility" is lame and outdated, but unfortunately, it still happens, although not as common as some make it out to be. The problem with fetishization here is deep-rooted self-hate.
Other than that, preferences are fine. Just respect the people and the culture and know your place. None of us are innately better than others due to ethnicity or race.

we like who we like and don't like who we don't like...
people call it a fetish or whatever but to me there is nothing wrong with that...if you like and only like black women or asian women or women with big feet or hands or dudes or whatever that is perfectly acceptable since it's your choice as to who you are attracted to...
