So when is Somi coming back?

  • Fair enough because Somi's 3 songs collection is so high quality I can't really dispute this lol

  • I've heard she will be a guest in the next episode of JaeJae's popular MMTG variety show

so maybe then she will spill the :pepe-tea: about comeback date

I think she's actually performing a cover with lee chaeyeon and daehwi: her JYP friends.

This will be her first performance in about half a year. Her lack of performances is an even bigger issue than her lack of releases. I'm glad she'll have at least one performance before her comeback to ease her into performing again, instead of getting really nervous every time she comes back because it's been so long. Hopefully she'll have more performances once she has an album and Covid clears up.

I see. In terms of acclaim and attention for musical content, definitely, at this stage she would have gotten more notoriety if she just stayed with ITZY. Financially, she's doing really well considering all her CF deals. She has had a lot of opportunities despite the lack of music. I took it that one of the reasons she decided to go to another agency was she wanted the freedom to have more input on her career. Unfortunately for us fans, it meant less of a proactive approach to her music career. We'll see what it looks like this year but I think it'll be very telling what fans can expect going forward.

Somi basically has two part-time jobs right now: her music career and her modeling/CF career. She said she would like 2-3 comebacks per year, but I think Teddy would respond with, "OK, but what are you doing to make that happen? It's your career." He appears to treat Somi differently than BP. Because she's solo Teddy seems to expect her to take more control over her music and career.

Teddy might also be very picky about Somi's releases because she is basically the face of TBL, at least for pop. It's Teddy's label and it's still in its early stages, but it has so few performance artists that Somi's success or failure is TBL's success or failure. Somi's career will shape the perception of the company and influence the artists/trainees that it can attract. Over the long run, people will forget about the long delays and just focus on the hits and failures.
