The consequences if China bans Chuang and YWY

  • What do you guys think will happen with Cpop's rising idol culture if the two most popular shows in China gets a temporary ban for 3 years? Will they to Korea Kpop like we see former trainees from those two shows in Girls Planet 999 and Xu Fengfan on PD101 Japan?

  • girls will definitely go try in Korea

with so many trainees already arriving for Girls Planet 999 it's confirming what will happen if...

  • the censorship is ridiculous. Someone needs to do something about China. They are already preparing to invade Taiwan soon.

other than overthrowing the Beijing bloc and letting the southern bloc sort of take over?

Idk there are differing political bents even within the one party system.

Xi would never take lightly to any of that because his ass going to be d-e-a-d dead after he gonna be deposed.

  • What's the reasoning behind banning these shows they are completely non-political and harmless?

WHY YOU SHOULDN'T HATE ON IDOLS

    1. They are young people trying their best in a competitive industry.

    2. You don't know what other pressures they are under, company mistreatment, diet, lack of success, not earning, long hard hours, family problems etc.

    3. They have worked for years towards a dream to entertain us and offer it up pretty much free if you factor in streaming, Youtube MVs, reality shows.

    4. We all know what can happen in extreme cases, mental health problems and even suicide (Sulli)

It is no official statement but, the speculation is the authority believes it promotes poor culture.

    - Kids wasting their parents' money on mass voting

    - Biased editing

    - Possible vote manipulation

    - Unreasonable pressure on youth trainees

    - Fans of a contestant slandering other contestants

    etc.

  • It is mainly about money and the corruption and waste that comes from money. The vote campaigns and fan clubs raise millions.

With that kind of money involved, accusations against Tony's parents -- drugs, prostitution and organized crime -- or the wasting of vast volumes of dairy products is going to get investigation from law enforcement.

That is on top of stories starting from the very first China PD101 that fan clubs were raising literally millions of dollars more for their trainees than the ones who got into the debut lineups. So either those millions went into something else other than voting or the votes were ignored even after spending. Either way, grand larceny was involved if true and that is going to bring in law enforcement.

Why do I watch survival shows? This!

  • This is from a reliable account (among first to post Tony/YWY3 story) -- it looks like they want to replace the sponsored pay-to-vote system:

Chuang 5 or Chuang 2022 seems will be rename, the voting method is cancelled, the trainee’s single video click rate is used as the indicator of the trainee’s promotion. After the end of each period, each trainee’s individual singing and dance video will be release as paid content

If their is any wrongdoing, hopefully Tencent and Baidu will get a massive fine like Alibaba for breaking antitrust laws. These giant tech companies are trying to monopolize everything.

  • wait wait is the show backed by alibaba or tencent? the beijing government seems to like tencent because Ali pissed xi off a lot ngl

I think Tencent backed a show but one is backed by IQYI it's all a bit confusing as there's two groups going from last year, Bon Bon Girls and The 9 !!

This all makes sense, wasting vast volumes of dairy products made me laugh, but if those yoghurt drinks were available in the UK I would definitely have bought one to try it :-D

  • I doubt that they go en masse to Korea right away.

All these shows are new enough that you can just create a new show with new rules. Aren't there already several other shows? Is it a show ban or a distributor ban (i.e. Tencent, Iqiyi)?

It's probably important enough to China to allow the creation of new shows to develop their idol industry. Instead of Idol Producer, a new show with new rules:

Idol Proctology: A show that looks more at what's inside each idol by subjecting them to a painful process of testing and growth. ;-)

  • wait wait is the show backed by alibaba or tencent? the beijing government seems to like tencent because Ali pissed xi off a lot ngl

    Youth With You - iQiyi

    Chuang - Tencent

Alibaba owns Youku which planned "Asia Super Young". (No idea if the show can be proceeded. It was supposed to be yet a boy group audition show to be aired this year.)

Beijing has given Tencent yellow card on monopoly. All Chinese tech giants has been under close watch of the govt. Beijing does not love it when a private entity grows so big and so powerful.

The rumor is on "audition survival show" ban. The announced and recruited Youku's show "Asia Super Young" may have been canceled. All selected contestants-to-be must be wrecked.

Why will Beijing ever support idol industry encouraging crazy fan culture? The world does not rotate around idol.

If the audition survival show truly has been banned in China, we may see Chinese money flows to foreign shows instead.

  • This is a real shame as I love survival shows, they are main thing for me the group created less so :-D
