How frequently should taglists be used?

I'm currently only in 2 taglists (idk why only two lolol) and they operate pretty differently. One of them is only used for news, while the other is used one every single thread about the group created, as long as the OP tags the taglist holder (idk what to call them). What do you think is the better method?

Personally I prefer taglists just being used for news, it means that I actually get tagged on important notifications and not random threads I could find if I cared, however the only issue is what to count as news, and what to count as discussion.

I mean for artist's taglists. I think it's an SM Stan thing, Exols have the same problem.
