2025 was a horrible year to KPop.
After all the drama, Lee Jieun took the power back, making all the progress of KPop to turn to nought.
That is after the devastation of KPop by KPop Demon Hunters and its American composer/singer E.jae, who has joined WME after releasing a little known song in Korea.
She realized the people of Korea still revere IU over her, and probably decided there is no place for her.
But even more significant that that seems to be the Jungkook-Winter scandal.
I am not going to waste time trying to discuss the veracity of the data.
The very fact that Jungkook, the only figure in KPop who had the potential to reach a global star status, was involved with a Kim Minjeong, from Jungkook's hometown, would be a letdown to BTS' international fan.
it is like a hot actress, getting the attention of hollywood, was put into a hiatus by some chance and meanwhile announced she is involved with some nobody from her own hometown.
How would the world react to this?
I do not care how much of the rumor is true, or whether they already broke up or not.
The very fact that Jungkook was involved with some less known singer in Korea (aespa is weak in the West) , instead of someone in the West, showed he is a local figure, just like IU, and won't be counted among the global list of celebrities.
So for me that is the biggest KPop news of 2025, even bigger than Huntr/x, Roseanne Park, MBE, New Jeans or even the resurgence of IU.
