What happened to 4th gen bgs 
lt feels like they’re making zero noise! Only Stray Kids seem to make noise/ remain relevant

All making noise but now people find 5th gen boy groups a lot more interesting! We have
- RIIZE
- BND
- ZB1
- CORTIS
- NCT wish
And soon ALDI and the new SM group!
Why did 4th gen bg fade out so quickly
I think it's an issue with BGs as a whole.
Whilst there are a ton of great groups, their appeal doesn't last as long, as concept-wise, they are usually more restricted compared to GGs (one reason why I prefer GGs to BGs).
The issue extends to fashion, too, as whilst men can have various looks, it isn't as "unrestricted" as women's fashion.
In SK sure.
Internationally though 5th gen BGs are not just flopping but even unknown to people. Most 4th BGs have stagnated/lost relevancy and don't do amazing numbers either, but they're still way better than 5th.
We have to go back to 3rd gen to find BGs actually very relevant to both SK and international kpop fans.
They're not more interesting really, not less either, maybe it's because there was a lack of bg popularity in SK for a few years and that sort of prompted the audience to try to care more? Maybe it's just timing?
Also there's so many groups, content, people, especially casual listeners will choose the newest ones.

In SK but not globally. I think in 5th gen, bgs are more popular in SK while ggs are more popular globally like Baby Monster . But in 4th gen , bgs are more popular globally ( album sales, tour revenue, global streams combined). 5th gen bgs aint making noise globally as much as 4th gen during their early yrs.

They're definitely doing better in SK. Internationally 😬 not really. I can't even tell the 5th gen boys musically apart right now. I think it's the opposite for the girls. Time will tell.

From the overall response it seems you all agree that globally this is incorrect and debatable in Korea
It could just be people’z interest in the new shiny things (like the new iPhone each year) but once the dust sets you realise it’s not as popular as initially believed!
I do think 5th gen does better in Korea at least in charting and overall buzz and apart from Stray Kids and few individual male idols outside the group I don’t see a lot of hype for 4th gen boy groups generally, compared their earlier years 
I’ll use Ateez as my example! (But this is for majority 4th bgs) They were so popular and mainstream but now it feels very scaled back and overshadowed by 5th gen bgs imo. Of course 4th gen groups have bigger and more loyal fandoms but it just appears this way to me at least!

For example, I don’t see their comebacks getting as much hype or discussions especially compared to their previous years and not just Ateez! Compared to 5th gen boy groups that are getting hype and discussed (and again this is from a general perspective not as someone that keeps up with them)
No one is outdoing ATEEZ. It’s not surprising that the general public sleeps on them—same story as Stray Kids. They’re bigger internationally than domestically, and they’ve made peace with that.
There’s nothing impressive about most 5th-gen boy groups. If you want actual men, sure, groups like UX1 or Avion stand out. I couldn’t care less about these baby-faced rookies pushing the same generic sound.

riize flopped. tws idk and idc, bnd and zb1 are..somewhere out there, and ...thats all the 5th gen bgs i can name
