    The house of Herod is perhaps best known through Salome, whose reward for this was the head of John the Baptist, which she kisses (She tried to tempt him but he refused her advances).

    Long story short, the house of Herod ruled what is now Palestine during the earlier part of the Roman Empire, but the Herod family were Idumeans, a people related but not part of the Israelis. So the Israelis rebelled again and again, until in the year 70 the greatest of such revolts occurred.

    The Romans, having enough of that, ended the client kingdom of the Herodians and the latter all died in one way or another, except--- Salome, who and her 3 sons having migrated to what is now Northern Syria where they presumably married into the local elites and their descendants are probably extant now. She is the only person mentioned in the New Statement with known descendants, so much for divine punishment.

    =====

    The arrival of KPop Demon Hutners means the end of KPop's independent operations, becoming dependent to whatever trends Pop is taking.

    Lee Jieun is now buried, BlackPink's world concert not drawing as much attention as it used to do in 2023, and now BTS is reduced to singing a tribute song for Michael Jackson.

    KDH is a project of Netflix, Maggie Kang a Korean-Canadian, and all 3 singing the song Golden being Korean Americans, not one Korean or Korean capital in sight.

    And there will be at least 3, probably more, iterations of KDH, with real human actors (probably Korean-Americans, Canadians, etc and others who could be plausibly called Korean, who speak better English than Korean), and the entire KPop will be held hostage to it.

    NewJeans has ended up like what we know, Stray Kids is not really Korean, aespa and Illit having their limitations, and now Starshit is winding down IVE

    And it is now certain that no song from any KPop company will do better than whatever KDH's producers, none of them being Koreans, will released, at Hot 100.

    With the circus in Hybe, it seems the Pop industry in USA has made a decision to incorporate what used to be called KPop into its own fold, like it incorporated Latin Pop into it, bypassing the Korean middlemen.

    I expected that for a time but if the Korean owners had cut off their ties with Korea before the initiative would have been with them, but they lingered in Korea too long and now KPop will be directly incorporated into Kpop, like the Roman Empire directly incorporating Palestine into the empire above, although , in this scenario, like Salome, the worst offender will probably survive in her known niche, completely irrelevant as far as KPop is concerned but still followed by her loyal fans who do not realize her heyday has ended forever.

  • that depends on whether it can continue to be successful

    a popular anime coupled with fun songs is a recipe for success but can it endure - does it have longevity or will it become a one hit wonder?
