Why Do SM Groups Have Hard Time In The West?

Where are they now? They aren't here in 2025 live singing on coachella or any big stages
They do lol.
Fully live band with almost no backtrack. Bigger festival than Coachella.

Sure
Which explains why I always see threads complaining about their concerts being 50% lipsync

Still doing their jobs. Some of them just have a comeback days ago.
Anyway, SM has some of idols with live singing skills can rival professional singers but still have a hard time in the west compared to other big 4 companies => ur live singing argument is incorrect.

Another thing I haven't seen mentioned is how it's incredibly hard to sing along to a lot of SM's title tracks.
"Whiplash"? You can't even sing along to that chorus unless you want to sound like you're monotonously whispering. I'd like to hear ThePhantomThief try.
They're really catchy songs, but not the type you want to sing along to, if that makes sense. Way too complex. Fun to listen to, not fun to sing.
I don't know if you've noticed, but Western listeners tend to prefer simple songs that they can sing along to. They can't keep up with learning these Korean lyrics while trying to perform vocal acrobatics with choruses like aespa's "Armageddon."

SM literally sent snsd to America and made them do girl crush concept with The Boys and yet failed to garner even an ounce of interest. Not even one concert outside of Asia
SM once again went the girl crush route with Aespa in the style of blackpink and yet failed again.
What’s the contributing factor here? Is it their groups lack of stage presence? Robotic manners? Lack of live singing? Lack of rapping skills?
Discuss
Because SM doesn't sign them to or sign partnerships with American labels most of the time like YG and Hybe do.

That's interesting!
