did Lisa just redeem her credibility back from her coachella performances?

  • I've only seen positive feedback from K-pop fans. Non-K-pop fans have been dunking on her even harder. I don't plan to watch it for myself, but I don't expect it move the needle much towards her current mid-term goal (being a key part of the American music scene).

  • She did well. Powerful performance. How she kept the energy level so high during the 1-hour show. Her fitness level is insane.

Positive review from fans and non-fans especially the ones who were actually at the event.

Almost all negative comments are from same groups of haters and faceless social media profiles. Their opinions cannot be changed anyway no matter how well she does.

  • Not really. I don't think she changed the minds of her doubters. It's was an improvement but I think she still needs a bit more on her vocals and perform songs within range. I will say she does have starpower because she looked like a star on stage. I think kpop fans are warming up to her a bit, but I don't think American fans care for her at all tbh. I think they feel she's being pushed too heavily, and they don't have a reason to care for her.

I'm a fan of Lisa, and I hope for her comeback she can open up herself a bit. I think that's hurting the push she's receiving because she doesn't have much of an identity outside of kpop. I think going Alter Ego route was a mistake and hopefully she found herself along her debut journey.

Overall, I think people want to see her dance more during performance with some signing. Due to not having strong vocals, she needs to focus more on the dancing as part of her performance. I feel that was missing with her debut, and that's how she redeems her credibility imo

  • I don’t stan girl groups, but I did catch Lisa’s performance while waiting for other acts. I’ll give credit where it’s due..her stage presence is undeniable, and the overall concept was cool. That said, I was expecting more in terms of dancing, especially since she’s known as a main dancer. A lot of what she did leaned more toward posing and basic moves rather than intricate choreography, and I actually felt like her backup dancers had more impact in certain moments.

Vocally, I don’t want to box her in as “just a rapper” because plenty of rappers across the board have proven strong vocal abilities (Missy Elliott comes to mind). But based on this performance, I think there’s still room for growth in live singing. The audio mix didn’t help either, and there were parts where the execution didn’t quite live up to the ambition. With more training and perhaps better sound engineering, I could see her pulling off an even stronger solo stage. It wasn’t a bad performance...there’s definitely potential there...but I do think some things could have been tightened up.

So to answer the OP’s question...I’m not sure if this fully redeems her in the eyes of all the critics, but it’s a step in the right direction. There’s definitely room for improvement, and if she continues to grow from here, I think she could really solidify her place as a solo performer.
