There isn't a huge backlash in Korea about this as it's never trending on Naver and not even with the trashy fangirls on Nate.
No real evidence there's a huge resistance to this drama.
But I do think the drama will get huge ratings.
There's obvious some backlash given that jtbc had to release two statements trying to calm down knetz. There's also the petition. So it's not nothing.
They have to do the statement becuase people spread/ leading public opinion with false information.

And the post i was responding to talked about career suicide, not losing endorsements. The actors will all find other jobs, just like Shin Hye Sun will. Nobody cares about manufactured drama like this except a few jobless trolls. The only way the actors will experience career suicide is if they actually SUPPORT government sponsored torture.
A bigger threat to the actors is if the drama is actually bad. If it gets universally panned and bashed, THAT will be far more damaging to their acting careers.
