End of year award shows for ROTY is going to be crazy!

I'm really curious about hearts 2 hearts and kiiikiii. High expectations for both

How does ROTY work? I am looking at previous winners from the KMAs and I see Aespa (2022), NJZ (2023) and Kiss of Life (2024). All 3 of those groups debuted the previous year.

Maybe they go by first 1.5 or 2 years of a group/artist. I looked at nominations for this year and Illit wasn't nominated. There's no way Illit having a strong year would miss out on nomination for ROTY imo

Illit already won rotys last year, in 2024. They debuted in March last year, which might have been too late to qualify for 2025's rotys
