Soyeon isn't even the most popular member of Gidle

Her experience in the entertainement industry is only producing, composing and being an idol

Just the fact that she only have experience in these limit the agencies that could be interested in her

So the only agency that would be interested in her would be companies who manage singer

The problem is that solo artist doesn't gain enough money from their money, a big part of their money come from advertising

The problem with soyeon is that visually she doesn't fit the korean standard of beauty so brand aren't really interested in her cuz she's not the type of artist the public will see in an ad and think " she's so pretty it makes me want to buy this CC cream or this makeup"

And on the other hands even after all these years being the face of the group in GIDLE, she have a really low popularity among the GP

That's why after 8 years of activity she had pretty much no solo brand deal or ads in contrary of members like minnie or miyeon.

And to finish if Soyeon wants to quit Cube, she'll have to pursue a singing career in solo

And her past solo all flopped hard so who wants to hire a singer artist that all their previous solo stuff flopped and didn't enter the chart.

All the money soyeon would make in solo it's thanks to her royalties with gidle songs, and it's money that her new company wouldn't have a percentage on it.

So looking at all of these who would want to fight to hire someone who wouldn't be able to bring them money.

Soyeon is valuable in a group cuz she can bring her qualities as producer, composer and rapper and her flaw can be fill by other members but tbh as a soloist i don't see much value in Soyeon.

She's not a soloist like exo members who have such a big and loyal fanbase that they can secure big sales wherever they are.

She's not a soloist like taemin or taeyeon who already proved themselves to the public by having solo hit.

And she's not a soloist like Suzy or Yoona who can both venture in singing, acting and can secure tons of brand deals thanks to theor visual.

So it's hard to see what a company would gain to hire soyeon more than joy

So thinking that Joy only renew with SM cuz she didn't have any other options

And that if soyeon and joy both quit, soyeon would have more opportunities at her door is a very narrow minded opinions

Of course they're counting down the days till the contract expires - that's when they get a big fucking payrise. All throughout their tenure they've joked often about wanting the pay bump and increase in revenue they knew they would be owed if they renewed. Shock horror people looking forward to a pay bump and joking about their label.

All I can see is pure hypocrisy from everyone involved that tends to immediately jump to the most negative and false assumptions about Idle (and Soyeon in particular) then other idols sail by smelling like roses for the exact same behaviour. I'm not faulting Wendy either, people are allowed to show dissatisfaction with how things are managed if it's not up to par. If renewal was the best for her, good on her.

Quite frankly, it's very easy to tell the people who've never actually had to work for their living. Everyone makes jokes about their job, quite a few people dislike their job, but they still do it. Cracking jokes about your company and looking forward to a payrise is indicative of nothing but being a person. It's called being an Adult.
