That's the haters sitting on the couch, thinking it's too much exercise to walk to the fridge.
There is some truth to it, I think you mean the somewhat dramatic facial expressions where they are trying to look cool. They can be more naturally experience and reflect the moment and emotion of the stage. But I think it's not as exaggerated as people think. it's at least admirable that they don't give a dull playback performance. Also, I'm sure they will become more natural as they gain more experience.

yes, I think you can tell that they are trying really hard to do well
but i agree this is just lack of experience and once they perform more and are praised more they will chill a bit and get more natural
