“She can’t read trends and doesn’t know what she wants” K-netizens talk about Hwasa’s new song

  • I liked the song. But I agree about Hwasa not using her full potential. Many of her songs has this talk-rap refrain when she could do her godly vocals instead. I don't understand why does she like it this way. But it is her choice.

On another note. Just following trends takes away the identity of the singer. And it can make you much more dated than going against it at the first place. Hwasa's image is great, she just makes bad choices regarding her songs.

That's why there are more songs on her albums. On every Kpop album, not just hers, but sadly, a LOT of Kpop fans only care about the Title Tracks, and say, these Idols can only do one thing.

I mean, imagine if Hwasa pick "O" or "ROAD" as the Title Track, people would go mad, because neither is a gp friendly up-beat song. She's definitely using her full potential, but for Title Tracks, Idols HAVE to pick songs like this one.

Also, let's be real, if this song was released by ANY BIG4 group, people would eat it up.

I mean, look at these: Aespa - Supernova, Babymon - Sheesh or Forever, Kiss of Life - Sticky, Nayeon - ABCD, Le Sserafim - Crazy, Nmixx - See That?, Lisa - Rockstar or New Woman, Zico and Jennie - SPOT, and so on. I like some of these songs, but pretty much all of these are the same.

  • If a person doesn't know what they want then how can they read the trends?

What? That's the point, if you only follow the trends, you're basically a nobody, you're not original, and most importantly, you don't have any personality. That's why Hwasa don't follow the trends.

I mean, that's totally fair if she doesn't want to chase general public approval, but I don't think it's mutually exclusive to release music for yourself and release music that can appeal to the public. That seems to be a skill that most successful artists can do in some capacity.

No, it's not mutually exclusive, BUT if you release songs for yourself FIRST, the public will like it eventually. Just look at Gidle's KLAXON, people said, it's a FLOP, because it didn't chart for weeks. Yet, it was #2 on Melon later, and they won 3 Music Show as well.

If Hwasa can chart well in Korea, it will take time, for sure, but I don't think it's gonna happen soon, especially, because the next month is gonna be MADNESS with those comebacks. Aespa, Jennie, KIOF, Ateez, Seventeen, ITZY etc.

I think that happening to "Klaxon" doesn't show that releasing songs for yourself first works consistently. It just happens to have caught on later, which has happened to plenty of songs in the past.

You missed the big part about them "not knowng what the want to do", if she had a clue about the direction she was taking then she could adjust it to a Concept.

Wait, so you're saying, there's no concept in her new album? The album is called "O", like a circle, meaning it's about her and her inner circle who she loves: family, friends, co-workers, and fans. That's what she said.

Her whole album is about herself. That's her concept since day 1. I mean, since she debuted! Her entire career is about herself, self-love, and teaching everything to accept others for who they are.

Saying: "She can't read trends, and she doesn't know what she wants" is THE dumbest thing people can say, and only people will say things like this, who doesn't know anything about her, and want to see the same boring Kpop concepts.

Hwasa is a trendsetter, not a trend follower. Massive difference!

  • She fell off, and she signed with psy company?? girl I thought with your image you would've built your own company like blackpink. Now we know who's the actual women leaders in kpop.

    parent-trap-the-parent-trap.gif

    Nice joke.

No, it's not, don't worry. No offense to BP, but Hwasa already built her own company with the other members. It's called RBW! Blackpink members and every other Idol can start their own company, but that doesn't mean anything. Why do you think Rose didn't start her own company? It's not like she doesn't have the same resource as the others. She knows it's not easy, and it's basically just a waste of money.

Hwasa always does what she wants, it doesn't matter if she has her own company, or she's working for another one.

If you wanna talk about "girl power", don't start with Blackpink, because it was actually Mamamoo who fought with Koreans and the whole Korean Entertainment Industry for Women's Rights, and for every other underrepresented communities.

Groups like BP, can't even dream about doing something what they did and still doing, even if they want to do it, because their company wouldn't allow it.

  • I'm saying that the topic says she didn't know what she wanted so how can she even know the trends, if she knew what she wanted then she can be blamed for not knowing the trends.

I don't think she can be blamed for anything. I'm sure she knows the trends, she just doesn't care.

I don't even understand why some people want to "blame" Idols for not following trends. There's like 100s of Idols out there who's doing that. They have to follow them, and not Hwasa.
