People still liked all of Big Bang. Twice was the nation's girl group. Seolhyun was the it girl and Tzuyu was expected to follow her based on the amount of CFs she was getting, Jennie as an it girl wasn't in anyone's radar. People expected BP to have as many songs as Twice or RV. BTS was nowhere near being the top group, but NCT was expected to be the next big thing after EXO and WannaOne dominated. People could have 18+ discussions in kpop forums and they were free to speculate if certain idols were gay or not. Wokeness in kpop and idol debut ages wasn't part of anyone's narrative. VLIVE existed but WeVerse and Bubble didn't. Everyone thought the Big 3 will always be SM, JYP and YG, and a Big 4 was unthinkable. Produce programs were massively popular but survival groups were still a rare thing. We Got Married existed but nobody could imagine idols would be going to Youtube shows to drink alcohol.
The years just prior to covid was a really strange time for kpop

Why u lying? Jennie had her smash hit solo in 2018. The prior year to COVID was 2019. Jennie already established herself as the biggest girl of her gen back then success wise. After that it was hwasa.
Looking at your post u seem to be talking about 2016 lmao.
they were free to speculate if certain idols were gay or not.
No u should not do that. It's none of your buisness

SOLO was her break out but it didn’t make her it girl overnight. I’d say by late 2019 her it girl era had its true beginnings but in the 2020s is when it was fully cemented.
JENNIE from BLACKPINK is the ultimate it girlJennie from Blackpink has been making waves ever since revealed by YG as a trainee in 2013 until now. Jennie as a traineeappeared on G Dragon’s …www.allkpop.comYea now people publicly say nobody should speculate yet among friends, and especially in gay community sites that’s like the daily conversation. There just wasn’t a need for many pretenses back then

Ahhh... the good ol' days Do fans nowadays consider shipping to be cringe or a violation of the idol's sexuality/ privacy?
